We're just back from a super weekend in la Chartre sur Loir. On Saturday and Sunday there was a brocante fair (flea market) lining the streets of this lovely small town and so we had lunch here between stalls of old Suze flasks and saucisson. This smart small restaurant has tables inside and out, with service from a hatch in the evenings. The menu is simple, but loaded with good pizza recipes. Three of us shared a Pizza reblochon (rich and delicious, with loads of cheese, potatoes - yes, really! - and onions) and a Reine with tomato sauce, mushrooms and ham. The fourth had a ham and cheese tartinette - sort of a posh cheese on toast which was not only massive, but tasty and with green salad. He didn't share though :-( Guess which diner was my husband .We had wine and coca-zero; everything came quickly and was hot and fresh. As for other dishes, the couple next to us ordered the chef's salad which was generous and served with goat's cheese and walnuts.Service was pleasant and our rubbish French not a barrier to a good lunch. The bill was about Eur 40 - note that bank/credit cards are not accepted. There are various ATMs in Rue Nationale nearby.
