The food was really good but don't come to this restaurant with children. Having initially sat on the terrace with our two young children (3 years and 10 months) the waitresses suggested we go indoors as it was going to rain. We waited a long time to have our order taken or to be brought any bread, despite this our 3 year old sat very quietly waiting. Our baby was excitedly chatting to everyone and anyone whilst eating her lunch. Admittedly she was quite noisy but she's only 10mths and it was a relatively quiet wed lunchtime not an evening. Before our starters even arrived we were told quite rudely by a waitress that our baby's noise was unacceptable and that I should take her out as she had other customers to consider! I was taken aback by how unwelcoming the staff were to children and by how much they gave preferential service to their regular customers. I would not eat here again and I would have expected a more child friendly atmosphere in a standard restaurant in France.

Had a fantastic meal here with my mother while in the Bordeaux region. We had tried 3 other restaurants in the area and all were very sub par to de l'Abbaye! The service - fantastic! The lady serving was very attentive, spoke good English, and made good meal recommendations. The food - finally a good meal. We had the pork and the steak and a charcuterie board to share along with the famous cronut dessert. All was fantastic and very tasty. I would recommend if you are in the area to try here. You may need to book but we came early (730pm) and were able to secure a table. Fantastic. Thank you

We stopped past here for a quick bite of lunch before heading to the airport. Great choice for a final meal in France. Excellent standard of food and service.

Packed restaurant, served Valentines Lunch on Feb 14 2016, 3 courses for 36,50 Euro's.Long waiting time, Serving understaffed, too small portions, seemed they were running out of ingredients. Apperitive coupe champagne was much too sweet, too much cassis used, 8 euro per glass. Was it real champagne by the way? Some food arrived cold, some parts of described foods were simply noticed, JUST MISSING ! If you say you serve Lotte, do not forget to put it at the plate....Including some drinks, paid around 115 Euro, Too much regarding quality of the food and lacking presentation, serving mistakes...Tip: When you ask for high prices, be sure you 'get your act together' first...Disgraceful....

We were desperate for lunch when we found Restaurant de l'Abbaye, at the foot of the dramatic Abbey ruins. This is obviously a local favourite, with friends and business lunches being had and we felt slightly out of place in cycling kit, although we were welcomed and seated quickly. What did take ages was getting menus, water and orders taken. Wondering if we should simply give up and leave, we finally realised that the staff were making sure their regulars were being swiftly served so they could resume their jobs and commitments at 2pm. As we were obviously at leisure, we weren't such high priority. Our waitress was very understanding with our mangled French attempts and when our meals did arrive, they were amazing. If you're in the area or visiting the Abbey, do dine here. Excellent value and food.

Very good little restaurant. One of the better in the area. Quite researched cuisine, helpful staff, but you will need to book if it is weekend. Also check the opening times, as each restaurant in the area have their own !!!

Very nice outdoor patio for dining. Staff is extremely helpful. The three of us chose different items from the carte de jour and all were very satisfied. Very nice wine list, Knowing we had a bus to catch, the staff was very attentive and got us out on time.

We managed to book a table for 16 people at extremely short notice for the final night of our holiday, having originally intended to have a meal in Creon, but all of the restaurants there were fully booked. What a very lucky accident! If we had eaten in Creon, we would have missed this lovely place. It was an excellent night all round, the staff were very friendly and helpful and considering there were only 2 chefs in the kitchen, the standard of the food was excellent and service very quick for such a large party. Our group ranged from 15yrs old to 59 and all thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The presentation was delightful and the taste superb, the whole party enjoyed everything they ate and there was not a single complaint. Some of our children aged around 20 said it was the best meal they had ever eaten, the entrecote steaks in particular were rated very highly. The chefs came out to meet us at the end of the meal and we expressed our appreciation with a round of applause. Fanny, the owner, was lovely and spoke very good English to complement my fairly average French. All in all, this was a really lovely end to our holiday and I would have no hesitation in eating there again.
