Hostellerie Etienne

After a rather dismal week weatherwise, we were very pleased that on our last evening it was warm enough to eat outside the garden/parc. The service was very good and friendly and we were advised that as we wanted cassoulet to avoid starters. I'm glad we took that advice as we struggled to get through the large bowl put on our table. We've had cassoulet many times in France and the UK and considered this one to be one of the best. I'd certainly go back but would aim for some serious exercise beforehand in order to do justice to the food!

Three friends, we called in for lunch. The place was full and there was a delightful, anticipatory buzz as people waited for their freshly cooked food to be served.Jill ate the lamb stew, from the 'menu du jour' after demolishing the best mixed veg & charcuterie starter in the area. Peter took the delicious tournidos and I ate the magret du canard. All served with a smile in spacious, airy room. Every bit as good as our last visit!

The staff are very friendly and attentive. For mains cuisses de grenouille and magret canard grille. The sauce on the frogs legs was delicious and the duck was cooked to perfection, it was probably one of the best meals we had in a long time. It is a busy restaurant and we were glad we booked the table. We had a super evening which was enhanced by the lovely waiting staff and wonderful food, and the wine was good too!

Marvellous restaurant who served us late in the day with the best cassoulet on the shady terrace, Fantastic staff, great ambience and good value. We would heartly recommend this to anyone travelling on the Canal du Midi

Wonderful evening, gem of a place. Food exceptional and waitress very helpful to 4 English people who speak little French! Highly recommended.
