Booked a table for six here after it was suggested by La Baraque a Boeuf around the corner as they were fully booked. We had Beef, Fish and Duck as main meals between us and a variety of deserts, all of which were excellent. The service, decor and ambiance were also excellent. I will certainly be coming back again.
Managed to get the last table here on a very busy Saturday. We were so lucky as the food was fantastic. The welcome was friendly and helpful. The menu is limited to 7 choices in each course which means it is always cooked and presented very well. Divine escargot to start with followed by very tender beef and rounded off with my favourite french desert - pain perdu. I would have preferred a more leisurely meal but it was Saturday and the tables were wanted!
Having booked a table for 7.00pm everyone seemed surprised to see us. We were pushed up to the third floor and neglected for 30 minutes until they were ready to talk to us. No drinks, no water, no menus. The food when it eventually arrived was mediocre and service was almost non-existent. Anxious to leave, I waited nearly 30 minutes for some attention, only to be told I would have to queue up downstairs at the till to pay. I have seen some good reviews of this restaurant so perhaps we were unlucky but at the end of a one month holiday in Western France, this was absolutely the low point. Find somewhere else to eat.
Fantastic place on the cobbled streets of the old part of Le Mans. The menu gourmande at €24 for 3 courses read like a greatest hits of French cuisine. We could smell the garlic from the snails as we walked in - 2 of us ordered them and they were served out of the shell in a divine garlic butter. All the dishes were generous in size and were very authentic.Service was friendly and efficient even though they were full on a Friday night with queues out of the door.Bill for 4 adults and 1 child including 4 pots of local wine was €142. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area.
I tried yesterday this restaurant after recommandation from my client. It was an excellent service, very good "Pavé de bœuf" in very thin slices The dessert "brioche perdue" was good. I recommend this restaurant BUT remember to reserve before reaching the place else you'll be disappointed. Only one small cave (that is the best place to eat in this restaurant ;)) bravo for the excellent service with a smile and great behavior. We saw pictures of this restaurant on Trip Advisor and I saw the basement seating which looks like a cave and is absolutely stunning! We were fortunate enogh to be seated downstairs which mad my 11 year old son's night! The food was amazing!! The waitress was very helpful since we do not speak French and she spoke some English. She was a great waitress and delicious food!
This place provides excellent food for very reasonable money. It also provides a lovely atmoshpere and friendly efficient service. Nice touch at the end of the meal was free marshmallows and a tot of the local house liqueur. We ate midweek on a cool March evening and the place was full. Bookings therefore are a must.
