We ate here on the recommendation of our hotel. It has modern decor with well-spaced tables and a newly added sunroom. The food offerings were somewhat different from the usual French fare. A bouche of finely diced beets and citron creme fraiche followed toast points with mousse of both avocado and salmon. Although each was just a few mouthfuls, they were refreshing and delicious. The entrees (appetizers) were large--my wife had fish rillettes with sliced smoked salmon, artfully arranged and dressed; I had a wonderful shrimp cocktail with slices of avocado and salmon complimenting the poached, completely-peeled shrimp. Our main dishes of chicken in Roquefort and roasted pork "filet mignon" were beautifully prepared and presented. This was followed by a pear sorbet in Poire William--a very strong pear liqueur. It woke up our taste buds and prepared them for our cheese course. The dessert selection was more varied and interesting than we have had lately. Our choices of profiteroles with creme Chantilly and Grand Marnier soufflé were, again, excellently prepared. The waitstaff speaks little English, but we managed easily, even getting into some difficult questions about ingredients and preparation. At one point, our waitress resorted to imitating/pantomiming various animals and vegetables, to our (and the surrounding diners) great amusement. In summary, it was a wonderful meal in a friendly and warm place.
