Fanny's cheesy raclette was not only big and generous but it was hot and oh so melty. I succumbed to temptation and put it ALL over my meat. And my potatoes. Slightly confusingly, so did my wife. Meanwhile, the kids delved into Fanny's steaming tartiflette, while we continued to scrape the hot cheesy triangle in front of us. And then the puddings arrived - if there are better pastries and better crème brulee in the Alps at a family-friendly price (and in an authentic, family friendly restaurant), then you will have found a truly magnificent restaurant indeed. Fanny - and the rest of the team a Le Flambeau deserve all the plaudits they get. So book in advance and go to Le Flambeau: make sure you eat local and drink local (their house Rousette de Savoie has the body of Chardonnay, but more flavour and an individuality that you certainly won't find in your local supermarket). Just leave room for pudding.
