The Cours Julien area isn't covered much in the Marseille Tour Guide books - but well worth making a visit. It's probably very depressing in the daytime with much local graffiti, but at night it comes alive with many eating/drinking establishments. If Lacaille isn't your style, then you'll be spoilt for choice with the range on offer. There seem to be very few English reviews of this restaurant, compared to the overwhelming number of French, which probably shows that it's well known locally. Certainly it was full of locals on the night we visited, and had a great atmosphere.we booked in advance for 8pm - probably too early, as very quiet at first, but by 9.00 they were turning people away.as to the meal, it couldn't be faulted! It's a small menu - available on their Facebook page, so you can 'translate' in advance, if your French is as good as ours! However, beware that Google translates 'carpaccio de loup' as Wolf rather than Sea Bass!Pricing is 'per course' so 3 courses works out at €30 - but an absolute bargain given the quality and presentation of the food. we 'treated' ourselves to sharing a Cheeseboard, before Dessert - which was sublime. At some point this will no doubt turn into a high end restaurant, and prices will double, so go now while you can!

Do reserve to avoid frustration !Small selection, but high quality, aesthetically pleasing and both traditional and original local food.I had a baba ganush that had an egg kn top of it (nice twist), main course lamb in north African kind of treatment, and we've shared desserts - the shorbet with cheesecake was stunning

Thanks to the advice given by a friend living in Marseille, we end up at Lacaille and we were amazed at the incredible high quality of the food for the relatively low prices. A restaurant French gastronomy can be proud of!!!

We went to Lacaille on the advice of our hostess Caroline (from Casa Ortega). While it was a 20 minute walk away it was worth the effort. We absolutely loved this place. We had two outstanding meals over the two month period of our trip, one in Paris, and the second was at Lacaille. The hostess was delightful - she was knowledgeable and only to happy to make suggestions on what we should choose. As for the food, it was outstanding - beautifully prepared and presented. We couldn't have asked for more on our last night in Marseille.

It is a very good overall choice. Nothing important regarding view or size. It is a small place. Location is close to a buzy area with nightlife but you can easily miss it walking by it. Food experience was very good, starter main course and desert too. Excellent presentation of the dishes. English speaking personnel. I was introduced there by locals and i would go back.

Came across this new little restaurant completely by accident. We have a marvellous Masterchef-style dinner, beautifully cooked local ingredients, served by friendly staff in a relaxed environment topped off with a pleasantly inexpensive bill. Try it!

I was told of this restaurant from local people in the area. To say the food is good is a understatement... it was amazing!! I've been in South France for a week but this place blew my mind. They offered 4 courses for appetizer, main course and dessert each. the group tried most courses and every one was excellent. I simply cannot recommend this course enough.
