We came here for a quick, cheap lunch. Felt we had to try some North African food as there's so many restaurants serving it in Marseille, but wanted something besides the traditional couscous. This place was packed with locals on Saturday night, but we returned Sunday morning for lunch. We had no idea what to order, but some gesturing granted us two dishes - a mixed salad plate of some kind, and lamb sausages in tomato sauce. The bread was fresh, and abundant - we loved how they just kept bringing it to people, who ripped it off with their hands and dug in greedily to the dishes. The Tunisian plate was a mix of all the salads in the window, plus canned tuna (unexpected), egg, and some sort of spicy harissa sauce. It was served cold, but was very flavorful - the egg coated everything, and you'd mix it all around with a hunk of bread and eat with your hands. The sausage was nice too, not as spicy as we'd hoped, but that tomato sauce was made for being soaked up with bread. It was good, and certainly incredibly cheap. We were full at the end, but I think both had hoped for something that would really wow our tastebuds, but we didn't get it here. For a place known for a large North African population, this particular place was a random guess and we felt let down by it. If you know you like Tunisian street food though, then I expect you'll like this, but we didn't know what we were getting into and we hoped it would be more.
