We go on holiday in Meschers for years, my wife since she was very young. This restaurant is the best in town for years, although I have to be honest, we do not visited fish restaurants. Very friendly owners and the food never disappointing. Also very cheap for the good quality you get!
Yet again, we spent many happy visits to this charming establishment last month. Run by Anton & Benedict, you are made to feel most welcome whether it's for coffee, lunch or dinner. The set menus are good value, with good quality fresh food, cooked creatively by Benedict. Johanna serves at weekends and although doesn't speak much English, we got on well, she also has a lovely personality, again making you feel comfortable, as do the locals of Meschers.Whether you visit here for drinks or food, I am sure you will always find a warm welcome, as we do. Anton speaks English & Benedict is fluent, many a good discussion has been had with them!! Do sample the mussels & pizzas, the fish, the special salad is to die for, well, in fact, sample it all!! We stopped for lunch in Meschers sur Gironde and were happy to find Le Mille Sabords open. There was a real assortment of people already eating lunch - old couples, young women in pairs, a large family and a big table of workers. The man waiting tables was delightful and attentive, and the ambiance was casual and pleasant. I had the plat du jour for 9.50E which was delicious - excellent pork tenderloin in a white wine sauce. My husband had a 2 course entree and plat for 15E which he enjoyed too - there were several selections of each. He started with a very good pork rillett followed by an excellent steak frites. The house wine was tasty and well priced. If in Meschers sur Gironde this a great lunch spot.
This is a fairly small restaurant on the main street in Meschers. We went there first for a drink on the terrace outside. The second time we ate there. The ambience is homely and welcoming. The service is excellent and all done with a smile. The food was relatively inexpensive but good value for money. We had the menu at 22 euros. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed the next day so we were unable to eat there again as we had to leave Meshers the next day. If ever we return to Meschers, this restaurant will definitely be on our agenda for another meal - perhaps more!
This restaurant is in the main street of Meschers. The food served is very good & also reasonably priced. We ate there many times during our month in Meschers & found it very good everytime. We also went for coffee most mornings, my husband likes 'milk & a dash' and they were very pleased to serve it to him, just the way he likes it! The couple who run the restaurant are very hospitable & the atmosphere is always very easy & friendly. We had many an interesting conversation with 'Madam Chef', who is also one of the owners, and speaks good English, luckily for us! Do try the restaurant if you are in Meschers, I am sure you will enjoy it.
