opposite the station and diagonally from the touching memorial to some 400 deportees from this little station is La Micheline. Open lunch only unless by special request for groups it could be nowhere but France. A scruffy garden area with spotlessly clean tables, one of which is under the catalpa tree, my friend and I were the only English there. All the boys from the station and the nearby silos for Terres de Sud come every day for lunch. Quite standard, an excellent charcuterie and then a crepe, or plat du jour, nice ice cream and coffee all for 28 euros for the two of us. A warm, almost secretive atmosphere, we lingered and chatted far longer than expected. As you will guess from it's location, La Micheline is a working French restaurant, completely unpretentious and completely delightful. Oh yes, good indoor eating if it's raining!
