L'Escale Réserver une table

We have been to L'Escale several times over the years and have always had a good meal. It is open most of the year apart from January. Great help yourself buffet starter or its enough for a main course. Outstanding views of Lake Vassiviere and good service with staff that always remember you. It has a lovely terrasse to sit out on to admire the stunning views of the beach, islands and it also offers trips on a bateau mouche to explore the huge lake.. A definite must if in the area

Offering both menu and buffet selection this is not to be missed when visiting the lakes. Service is excellent with a smile and assistance offered to make a choice from an extensive menu and buffet selection. Also on offer is a fine choice of wines to suit both taste and pocket. Well recommended.

This place is a regular haunt for our family. Great views across the lake, patient service and value for money food.

This restaurant, situated at the very edge of Lake Vassiviere, is a favourite lunch stop for us ( and also, it seems, for mobile French artisans working anywhere locally). The principal attraction for them and also for us is the excellent food at extraordinarily low cost. For example, there is a €10 fixed price, self-serve buffet which can be revisited and is always a meal in itself for us, although for those with larger appetites than ours the buffet is only one course on a very reasonably priced three course menu. An added attraction is the external seating, which is both on a wide balcony and at the very edge of the water, and the views across this beautiful lake are superb, There are also 3 hour lunchtime cruises incorporating a four course meal at an all- inclusive price, and these can be pre-booked at L'Escale - something we are planning to experience during a summer visit to France and will report accordingly!

4 of us had ice creams and crepes on the terrace. All excellent and good value (Eu7'ish or less) we thought...except for squirty cream, which next time I will avoid. Great location, and easy parking/access for oldsters like me. Lac Vassiviere really is a hidden gem, with free ferry to island and great facilities for all types of tourism, especially if you like watersports, obviously.

Nous avons mangé ici pour le déjeuner 4 adultes et 2 enfants, nous avions tous le menu fixe. Tout ce que vous mangez sous forme de buffet était incroyable, il y avait tellement de choix et tout était délicieux. Pour notre deuxième plat, nous avons eu un steak cuit à la perfection, il était simplement fondu dans la bouche. Pour le dessert il y avait un bon choix, crêpe, glace, crème brûlée, myrtille ou mousse au chocolat. J'ai encore choisi la mousse au chocolat, c'était délicieux. Mon seul point négatif c'est qu'il y avait beaucoup de monde (mais c'est parce que c'est très populaire), mais on sent qu'on l'attendait.

Immergé pour une bouchée rapide avant le voyage en bateau. Endroit populaire et animé avec des bus remplis de touristes. Buffet froid d'un bon rapport qualité-prix, mais conçu pour les produits en vrac plutôt que pour les aliments fins
