Just what you expect from a One Star Michelin, to be pleasantly surprised by the chef... to taste new delicious associations. Loved the Foie Gras in Herb broth and the rhubarb desert

It was like is " OH, MY GOODNESS! It's amazing, it's like Salvador Dali and Picasso in a kitchen..." I love VOTRE ART on a "TOILE"! Thank you for the pleasure.

I have been 3 times to la Bute for dinner in the last 9 months, both as a couple and a larger family group. The food is technically excellent with imaginative re-interpetations of traditional breton recipes and local products. However do not expect good service if you are not seen as local. In fact although I have a common English surname I have had a home in the area for many years. On each occasion I booked in advance (as much as 2 weeks) and requested a window table for the special occasion - birthdays and wedding anniversary respectively - only to shown to a back corner table near the service area. When I complained on the second occasion we were shown to a table with a view of the bay, one of the restaurants selling points. But it puts a dampener on an evening if one has to complain at the outset. There were plenty of tables both for couples and families available in the window area on each occasion. As noted by others the staff are inexperienced and make too many basic mistakes - a big play on serving very good speciality butters, but then omitting to serve any bread; forgetting to allow the red wine to breath and to serve it on time with the main course. The practice of paying the bill at reception at the end of the meal should be discontinued. The host does not want all their guests to know how much the meal has cost.Having spent the best part of 1,000 euros in this establishment I will not be returning any time soon.

Nice view from a hill above the sea, about 2-3 km away from the bay.If you go there for dinner, the sun might be an obstacle, as it shines thru the big windows.Staff is attentive, some young and inexperienced among them, so some misunderstandings arose, though the restaurant seems to set a standard process for servers (welcome, aperitive, amuse-geule, beverages, menue etc).We were there twice during our vacation and enjoyed the food much. One star is well earned.

On every trip to France I always tried to pampered myself with those amazing restaurant and I was not disappointed at all by la Butte. Located on a hill in a small village ,the view is fantastic , the place itself is a modern building as they also have hotel and spa . Greeted in a very professional way the restaurant itself is very beautiful contemporary setting , the mise en bouche, different flavors from britanny , the local lobster was a dream for my palate , the pigeon was cooked to perfection , dessert was also good , had the "dessert around the peach" very good even if I the flavors were a bit light , this restaurant deserves his first star Michelin, yes it's pricey but the quality of ingredients , the mixed of local flavor and all the rest made this culinary experience the best of my trip.

The previous review here by Paulwoods1 is very critical of this restaurant. All I can say is that were experienced the total opposite. We arrived unannounced and unbooked seeking somewhere to eat on our last night. They had a table for us and we were treated with respect and charm and graciousness, something to which I will return. The a la carte menu is not cheap nor for the faint-hearted but the fixed price menus, staring at 49 Euros, represent good value for money, considering what you get. (My spider-crab starter was priced at 26 Euros on the a la carte but was included as part of the 49 Euro option). But be warned, this is not a place go do if your idea of fine dining is McDonalds or your local Indian: this is dining in the very best French tradition. The food was exquisite and, in places, sublime. The pork, to be trite and cliched, really did melt in the mouth. Tastes and flavours were superb and the combination of ingredients first class. But although the food was universally excellent it was the service and the ambience was contributed much to our enjoyment. The restaurant is about a mile form the sea and sits on a hill, thus affording wonderful, if slightly distant, views of the bay. The staff were excellent. My wife, being picky, opted for a main and a dessert whereas I, glutton that I am, went for the three course 49 Euro menu. Drinks came with little nibbles (a variation of the cheese straw). Then came not one but two amuse bouches. These were cleared away and cutlery laid for my starter. They also gave my wife some. When she remonstrated saying that she wasn't having a starter they said that they couldn't let her simply watch me so would give her a small (complementary) starter (not on the menu). This was excellent - had it been on the menu she'd have had it. It was this level of service - professional, gracious, warm and stylish - and the food that makes this place as good as it gets. I doubt that there's a better restaurant within 50 miles on this stretch of the coast.

We went to this restaurant with the greatest expectations , having read such a rapturous reports here and elsewhere. Clearly the night that we visited the chef was off, they must have run out of most things as they were using frozen (fish), and the charming personnel clearly had the night off as well. Things did not start well considering we were left at the table for a least 10 minutes before the person in charge pitched up. Mr snooty (as per attitude ) enquired if we wanted an aperitif and as we didn't stalked off. The menu itself what there was to choose from was one of the most pretentious and high faultin' that I have ever witnessed. The Foie Gras was meant to be accompanied by Mr someone or others grapes. They were also on page dedicated to a list of " our friends to supply us". Well at least the list wasn't comprehensive because I have no idea who supplied the paper in the toilet. Who the hell cares? Probably they paid for thatMention on the Menu. It was probably some supermarket from where my fish came from. Had I not been with family and had only an ounce of sense I would have left there and then. I have to give credit where it is due. The foie gras that I ate was delicious. The wine that we drank was excellent and not overpriced. Everything went downhill from there. The slither of Pollack that I was served made me think that I had actually ordered from the children's menu. Worse yet it was cold and frozen in the interior. I got this to snooty back and told me it was cold it was not an apology there was a silent air of disbelief and it was whisked into the kitchen. Clearly they slipped it in the pan or something and back it came to be anointed with a couple of teaspoonfuls of some sort froth that had absolutely no flavour whatsoever. My guests please was no better but he was polite and did not wish to make a fuss. If that fish was fresh and not frozen, I am the Wizard of Oz. Desert was possible and indeed we might even have ordered another bottle of wine had they not kept the original bottle so far away from us. Mr Snooty probably considered that we were a bunch of drunks and the sooner that he got rid of us the better. Never have I been so disappointed in an establishment and never have I had such a lousy food for such an inflated price. For €250 I expect damsite better than they are capable of producing. I should add that somebody in a white coat came out clearly expecting to be showered with compliments. We went to this restaurant with the greatest expectations , having read such a rapturous reports here and elsewhere. His complacency and the disdainful atmosphere in that restaurant will stay with me a long time. Thankfully he needs to go back and take a few lessons in cookery. A temple of gastronomy clearly considers itself. Frankly if the dustman were to pass to buy one would be wondering whether they were collecting or delivering. It was in one word , horrible. The family with whom I was a table I love and respect and was so upset for them. I would strongly urge anyone who has any idea of good food to stay well His complacency and the disdainful atmosphere in that restaurant will stay with me a long time. This place is so far removed from the delightful places we ate in subsequently that I realise that this was an anomaly for France in general and Britanny in particular. I have no axe to grind other than my money would have been better spent elsewhere. I have thought long and hard about writing this. I would gladly have rung the owner but when all is said and done, I really expect little more than a brush off, I'm afraid.

What a meal, one of the best I had. This place has obviously recently been refurbished and the set up is very modern and "bourgeois" without being intimidating. The dining room has commanding views over the beach which had to the wonderful overall experience. Food is divine and portions are generous (even for kids) but what is most noticeable are the little attentions and surprises before and between dishes. Just amazing! Special mention to the waiting staff which does a great -really great- job of explaining what is in your plate. I do believe this restaurant has a 1 Michelin star which is well deserved. I have family connections in this part of the World and will most definitively go back when visiting.
