Chose this restaurant as it was busy and others were not. We both had the €18.90 menu and chose the Caesar and Italian salads as starters , which were good ?My wife had the dourade which was good my son had the main menus Caesar salad which was ample for him, my choice was the calamari with a Roman sauce unfortunately this was quite heavy as it came as a plate of chips and fried calamari with a small salad and no sauce, so had to have ketchup and mayonnaise ! . The waitress spoke very or no English though the main waiter / owner ? Spoke a little . Wouldn't go again though the burgers and large fish plates being served looked good.

3 adults and 3 children arrived here, all very hungry. The maitre de which I presume was the owner was exceptionally welcoming. The menu has an extensive range and anything he could not understand from us, he immediately got a waitress who could interpret. One of the party had ordered a certain type of steak and he explained how it should be cooked to best appreciate it. Food was lovely. Area bit quiet , thinking this is a lovely square in a seaside resort. Prices ok, similar to home in a middle of the road restaurant. Approx prices €15-€18 for main course.

Unbelievably enough, we had this place recommended to us. Service was lousy and arrogant for starters.Although we got our starters as espected, they thereafter completely forgot about us and the rest of the meal. After an hour waiting, we asked for it. We then got our plates little by little, and all four of us had to go in to pick up knife and fork to eat with.We did not bother to wait for dessert as we just wanted to get out of there. And did I forget to mention the food itself? Well, it was well below average.

I hope I don't sound too sound gushing ; but we've just had the most wonderful meal ever at the Marie Jack restaurant . My Sister in law , husband & I were early at Portiragnes beach looking at all the menus & the owner let us in for a drink even though it wasn't yet midday .I ordered the champagne & peach cocktail , my husband the pastis & Pat had a glass of red wine whilst we studied the menus & ate the complimentary ripe black olives in herbs de Provence .We decided upon the 11.80 € menu with 1 litre of good house red at only €11.50 .As it has been such a hot day we were happy when the attentive staff opened the terrace up for us to let in some cool air whilst we sipped our drinks & watched the people pass by . When my prawn starter arrived ;- I was " eating with my eyes " - (photo to follow ) as it was so attractively presented . My husband had the melon & ham which was also mouthwatering & fresh .For the main meal we chose fish in batter / steak & chips with salad , also excellent . Followed by specialities of carpaccio pineapple with mango sorbet - wow ! Not only was the food superb but the service too was excellent ; ( the waitress & the owner came regularly to our table to ask if all was well , which made us feel very special .)The icing on the cake was the complimentary digestive drink offered by management who came to clink glasses to our health . I cannot remember when we were treated so wonderfully by a restaurant we've never frequented before . We are all of us looking forward to returning to this amazing place & would certainly recommend to friends & relatives for the cheap menu of only € 11.50. However there were some very posh menus with a higher price range for the true gourmand . I don't think I've ever had such good value for money at the beach , which is normally more expensive than the inland villages - only € 56 for the three of us with all the drinks & 3 course meal . My photos do not do justice to the beauty of the actual meals we were served

Off season it was open. Well patronized. Good food. Nice friendly service. Convenient. Enjoyable for both lunch and dinner.

Whenever we are in the area with the grandchildren, Marie Jacks is a must stop place. Always a good welcome, even under the new ownership and the food and menu continue to offer good choice and value.

Easily the busiest restaurant on the square nearest tourist office but I wasn't expecting much given its a seaside resort. However we had an enjoyable meal with amazingly good service: tap water came quickly, waitress was always there when we needed her despite being rushed off her feet. Children's menu had much broader selection than usual including mussels. We all had mussels and they were good.

We pre booked evening dinner at this restaurant on our afternoon walkabout based on other peoples trip advisor reviews. We are so glad we did as by 8pm it was bouncing and people waiting for tables. Arriving at 7.45 for our 7.30 booking was no problem and a table for 6 was set up for including high chair for the baby. They had put us close to the inside restaurant under cover just in case the forecast storms arrived. Starters of oysters and Spanish ham were both excellent. Main courses of Moules Catalan and duo de peche were equally tasty and portions generous. Kids menu a little simple and not huge portions but ours weren't complaining as that meant creeps for desert. We finished off with the Irish coffees which were heavily laced with the old Bushmills. Service was very friendly & highly efficient and plenty of staff meant no delays with food or drinks orders or any clearing away. Highly recommended.
