We have visited Les Catounes several times for morning coffee but dined there for the first time at lunchtime to-day. This is an unusual place being a shop for clothes and knick-knacks as well as a restaurant. Food and wine were good, service possibly a little slow although we were told that the chef was unexpectedly away. The food had gentle north African touches which made it most enjoyable. We started with duck samosas then went on to magret and entrecote both of which were good and cooked as we had requested. The dessert Tarte Tatin was good too. Wines available by the glass, carafe and bottle and we had glasses of a local sauvignon blanc and a carafe of a Coteaux du Quercy, both good..
We have enjoyed morning coffee on a number of occasions and last week decided to try Les Catounes for lunch. We were both very pleasantly surprised. The lunch was tasty and well presented and on a warm spring day the venue is hard to beat. A first class meal with first class service to match.
We called into town to look round some vineyards in the afternoon and called here for lunch. It turned out to be the best meal weve had this holiday. My partner had the 19 euro vegetarian plate and i had the seafood which was sublime, king prawns, salmon, scallops, lentils, salad and homemade puffed chips. Big serving then a cafe gourmand. The wine; a rose was tasty too. We had a look round the shop too and i bought a bag. Lovely atmosphere and decor, interesting concept. Highly recommended. Staff were friendly too.
Ate here one night last week. Decided to eat in the courtyard as it was such a warm night. Gazpacho to start for all four of us and then we had delicous seafood dishes.Waiter was helpful and attentive and the chef stopped to chat with us after service finished for the evening.
We were in a party of 12, we arrived at the restaurant at 7pm and our first course came after 9pm, many people who arrived after us had finished their meal before our main course arrived, We asked for some bread after being there for an hour without food and received 6 small rolls between 12, The main course was a choice of fish or lamb and most of our party chose lamb only to be told at 10pm there was no lamb left. the food is expensive and a bottle of wine starts at 25 euro (5euro in a supermarket) The waiter was extremely rude, when we complained at the long wait he told us to just relax and enjoy our holiday!! we live in France and half of the party was French .Avoid this restaurant.
We came here after reading the reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed . Great decor and the chairs and tables with the surrounds was very relaxing and comfortable , it's the sort of restaurant that you could sit around and talk for hours. We didnt book but were made very welcome. My entrée was plentiful with clean distinctive flavors. My main meal, beef tartare was not liked l have had before but tasty. They did let themselves down with the vegetables though,very blan.I did find it hard to choose something on the menu that I could have as I can not eat fish and did not wish to eat duck, but as it the beef was very nice.The owners are lovely and very willing to accommodate different needs such as vegetarians.
