We really enjoyed our time in Le Sailor bar. Both the bar staff and the locals were really friendly and obliging would recommend it to anyone staying in Roscoff.

Out of season Roscoff hasn't quite managed to integrate the transportation system around Finestre with the overnight ferries arriving from Plymouth. The ferries are scheduled to arrive at 0800 and there is supposed to be a bus service onwards from the port to Morlaix, via the town centre, which should wait for departing foot passengers. This doesn't always happen. The local train from Roscoff to Morlaix almost coincides with the ferry time too, but that departs at 0800 and doesn't wait for the connecting bus, if any.The next scheduled train from Roscoff is then 11.39 which leaves at least three hours hanging if intending to continue by public transport. The station closes between the departure of the early train until about an hour before the departure of the 11.39 and whilst the platforms are accessible the sheltered waiting room isn't.Such is life if the weather is good or you're not over-laden with luggage - the town is well worth a wander. But if not...Fortunately this little bar/tabac is open and the friendly owners are more than happy to provide shelter to all and sundry provided they are willing to part with the price of a coffee, or maybe a beer, or maybe a coffee and a couple of beers...This is a proper little bar/tabac with easy-going regulars and hanging a couple of hours allows you to acclimatise to the Breton ambience and even practice a little with your French language skills.Note that it doesn't do food, per se, but the "tabac" part sells the usual confectionery etc.

Traditional Tabac / Sports Bar. 1664 on tap. What's not to like. We went in here as there was no bar in our hotel just aound the corner. Obviously a "Locals" bar. That was not a problem though. Sat at a table and enjoyed our beers .

Your average French bar tabac is not exactly the most welcoming place for a visitor: As a rule, the air is a mixture of BO and Stale smoke and you can feel like a bit of an intruder, especially if you don't like horse races. But Le Sailor is... rather different. It is clean, light and airy with what needs to be the cleanest and best rated public loos in Brittany. Common choice of hot, soft and alcoholic drinks, breakfast in the morning at a very reasonable price to sell newspapers, chocolate and a few souvenirs. It is just a few meters from Roscoff station and is very convenient if you wait for a bus or train. A very pleasant place to pass half an hour.

From the Roscoff season it has not been possible to integrate the transport system around Finestre with the ferries arriving from Plymouth. The ferries are planned to arrive at 0800, and there should be a bus service from the port to Morlaix, about... the city center that should wait for the departure foot passengers. It doesn't always happen. The local train from Roscoff to Morlaix almost falls with the ferry time, but this drives around 0800 and does not wait for the connecting bus, if at all. The next scheduled train of Roscoff is then 11.39, which leaves at least three hours to hang when the intention to continue by public transport. The station closes between the departure of the early train up to about an hour before the departure of 11.39 and while the platforms are accessible, the protected waiting room is 't. This is life when the weather is good or you're not loaded with luggage the city is worth a walk. But if not... Fortunately, this small bar/tabac is open and the friendly owners are more than happy to offer protection for all and property, provided they are ready to use the price of a coffee, or maybe a beer, or maybe a coffee and a few beers... This is a real small bar/tabac with easy-going regulars and hanging a few hours allows you to accentuate the Breton ambience and even practice a little with your French language skills.
