Nicely decorated restaurant. The quality of the dishes and a not so attentive staff made the experience disappointing. Got the impression dishes were not prepared entirely at the restaurant. Food and wine overpriced. Will not come back.

We booked here four our group of 10 people during a busy school holiday week. Not too much English spoken, but our waiter was excellent & tried very hard. We can also understand a reasonable amount of French. The food was fresh, well prepared & everyone enjoyed their respective dishes. We also appreciated the waiter's advice to change the wine to match - even though the cost was a little higher it was a very decent Malbec. There was plenty of black pig on the menu & all very tasty.

We booked La Pergola restaurant for Christmas dinner on the evening of 24 Dec 2016. When we arrived at the restaurant early afternoon we discovered that there was only one set menu available and our 14 year old son was unable to eat any item on the set menu. We asked if they could serve him a steak for his course and my wife and I would enjoy the set menu for 50 euro each. They agreed and we returned at 2000 hrs. later that evening for our meal as booked. The service was good and the atmosphere was very nice. Some of the set courses were only average for the price and were not enjoyed by all of us (there was no choice on this menu). We left feeling a little disappointed with the overall meal and we were also annoyed as they charged us the full 50 euro menu price for my son's single steak plate.

Don't miss eating at La Pergola when in Saint Lary - fantastic local food, excellently presented (black pig is the speciality and it delicious). Lunch set menu is amazing value but dinner is very good too. Eating inside the traditional characterful hotel or outside in its courtyard are both delightful. Service is excellent and welcoming, can't fault this as a place to dine. Central location to walk to in town.

We had such a good dinner at La Pergola that we went back the next night. The service was impeccable and a very nice change from most of the dining choices in this little mountain ski town. We put ourselves at the mercy of the waiter and ordered the house red and white - both were terrific, and very different from any of the California choices we are used to having. The trout was outstanding (it looks like salmon - very red meat. Also enjoyed the entrecote.

Off the main road this restaurant in the hotel is not aiming for local food but has a good menu, well cooked. Service was good and friendly right up until the end when the bill was a bit of an ordeal. Delicious starter of boar fillet and the main of hake was really nicely done. Not sure about the veal "balls" - they were a bit dry. Good wine list.

Our best food experience on this years ski trip. Very friendly and flexible service. Smiles all over. Food was far above our expectations, but maybe not the deserts. The wine was chosen with their help and we loved it - Montus
