We passed this restaurant on a number of evenings but it was closed. Finally on the last night of our holiday it was open. I understand they open at lunchtimes...definitely worth checking out and visiting. We were welcomed by the host (who spoke very good English), we had good fun with a mixture of English and our limited but constantly learning French to communicate and order. The best fun was the hosts actions to tell us the item on the menu was Frogs legs. It really was fun and relaxing. There were 2 choices of menu. A €19 menu - Entree, Main course and either cheese or dessert and a €23 for Entree, Main, Dessert AND cheese. The menu choice was really good and had something for everyone. The food was beautifully served and tasted fantastic. Of course I had to have the frogs legs and really enjoyed them. The service was very discreet (when a bottle of water was empty it was quickly replaced). The price of the meal was slightly cheaper than some others that we had tried during the week but was by far the best in terms of atmosphere, service and the fantastic meal. Thank you for a wonderful end to our holiday. There is also plenty of parking.

We live locally but have not visited the restaurant before. We went with great friends over from Scotland and were unsure what to expect. We need not have worried as we had an excellent dinner. The staff were very helpful and attentive and spoke English to assist us with our beginners French! The menu choices were very good and great value. We even had frogs legs for the first time. We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back.

What can I say, other than you simply have to go to this restaurant as a matter of urgency i.e. before everyone else discovers it. Frogs legs to start, beef brochette for mains and strawberry tart with almond cream for dessert. Rose wine, 2 bottles later, mixed with convivial company and great service left me and my husband and our friends with great big smiles on our faces! Fin

We have eaten here a few times over the last couple of years but this was the first time under the new owners. We weren't disappointed. There are a couple of changes, the most noticeable is the salad buffet bar for the entree. However this was nicely stocked and well presented with a good cross section of choice. We chose the 14€ Menu De Jour and had the buffet salad, followed by Hachis Parmentiere for the main course , egg custard pattisiere (me) and chocolate mousse (wife) for dessert. The food was excellent, good quality, simple and filling. Included in the price is a 1/4 bottle of wine and coffee. The staff are friendly and efficient. It's nice to find that the restaurant is keeping its popularity and we look forward to our next visit.

We have been to this restaurant a few times and always had a beautiful meal and excellent service. Don't be put off by the fact it is on the main road inside its perfect. Worth booking as it does get busy most nights.

My third visit to this restaurant, I have been impressed by the quality of service, food and interior decor. The restaurant does a good quality menu of the day for 14.50 euros but being a bank holiday we chose from the a la carte menu, mine being the set menu at 28 euros. Started with trio of very pleasant amuse bouche's. My selection from the menu choices was an entree of a beautiful foie gras and apple wrapped in black pudding (boudin), mains a rabbit wrapped in bacon and dessert of profiteroles. All beautifully presented, washed down with a pleasant house rose wine.

Have visited this place many times and it is always consistently great. The chef produces the best quality meals from the best produce. Michelin should take note!

Our third visit here in the last year and once again a superb experience. It's worth going just for the Tourain a l'ail (Garlic Soup) a sublime, very tasty starter. Followed by Farmers Chicken, a rustic dish of a hearty quarter chicken and half a cooked potato, finished flat side down on a flat griddle (until slightly charred) accompanied by a selection of vegetables cooked in a light broth. L'Artenset benefits from having very friendly and efficient staff and pleasant atmosphere.
