First I’d like to say that I suppose the owners will respond to this review aggressively as they have many times before to other reviewers. The view, terrace and restaurant are beautiful, but the owners should find something to do with this privileged piece of property that doesn’t involve anything in the hospitality industry. The food we ordered was quite good, but expensive. However, with the lovely scenery, this would have been acceptable with decent service. Although there were only four or five tables that evening, we were served by three different people. This led to a misunderstanding concerning the wine ordered, which I will explain later. During our meal, several events were out of the ordinary to say the least. We could hear loud voices arguing from the kitchen. The female owner was upset that only one person in our party ordered dessert. Before our meal was over, we heard a vacuum cleaner. Inside the restaurant, she was vacuuming their 82-kilo St. Bernard, which was quite amusing. As we looked at the bill to split payment between friends, we noticed that the wine cost 37 euros for 50 centilitres. This was surprising since we first ordered 37.5 centilitres for 19 euros. When one person in our party began to ask about this, we were called English liars who always try to get away with paying less. The owner said that she knows this because she lived in Kent for 4 years. Little did she know or care that although we are anglophones, there was no one from England in our group. And in addition to not being English, I am a French citizen and a French public servant. At least I can use this crazy episode to illustrate cultural insensitivity in the intercultural management classes that I teach! The chef and other owner of this establishment came over to join the discussion and was also aggressive, threatening to keep one friend’s bank card when he said he would leave a bad review. I ended up going outside because the tone actually became quite frightening. There are many restaurants with lovely views in our mountains. I only wish we had read reviews of this one before going, or we would not have made this mistake.
