We ate here this evening and the restaurant did not disappoint. We arrived and was promptly seated with warm welcome. The restaurant owner was pleased we tried out our French despite being very basic. We enjoyed the local red wine with our meal which complimented the meal well. We went for the 24euro three course set menu. The charcuterie was lovely followed by perfectly cooked duck (pink as requested) The dessert did not disappoint with a very light sponge, cream, ice cream with a liquor sauce. My partner had smoked salmon witch was cooked perfectly. We would highly recommend please don't be put off by the local rustic appearance it really is a hidden gem.
If you want a taste of France away from the tourists and busy streets of Saint Emilion this is a gem. (It is on the side of a busy road, but this is not much of a problem) The welcome was exceptional and the hosts were very friendly. A jacket was offered to our daughter who found the wind fresh! This is not a high end restaurant but a very honest place with excellent service and lovely touches. The food was home cooked, generous portions and tasty. The patisserie and home made desserts were a highlight. Home made jam is also on sale.We would happily return and would like to thank the hosts for a memorable experience.

We were seated at a private spot by a window in a lovely room with a piano, stone walls and a wooden barrel ceiling. A charming girl waited on us and was a delight. She wrote down the names of all 6 wines we tasted. They were unusual picks and all perfectly matched with our dinners. The chef served up little surprises... the warm grissini wrapped with Iberian prosciutto came with mascerated popcorn & tapenade. The velouté of asparagus was set off by crumbled almond bits. Great scallops. Great langoustines & white asparagus.
I wrote a review of this restaurant two years ago and it was dreadful. Poor food and confrontational staff. However it has greatly improved, I do not know if it is under new management but much much better.I wouldn't have returned but it was recommended by our B&B landlord and we put the address into the satnav and off we went not knowing it was taking us to the same place. We nearly didn't stop when re realised but it looked different inside and there were a lot of people eating. Also it was late so we were not sure where else would be open, we gave it a go.Both had the special which was a very good steak with vegetables and potato's and was really well cooked. The staff did all appear to be different and we found them helpful and efficient. In all a good eating experience and I am glad we took the plunge and gave it a go.
