During our week-long stay in Normandy, L'Estaminet is the only restaurant we visited twice. It is located in the charming small town of Ste. Marie du Mont, and appears to have been a stable at one point in its history - as reflected in its decor. There is an outside dining area (of course!), but due to the weather we dined inside. It is not a large establishment, so I can imagine that the tables could fill quickly at popular times. Our group was a party of six on the first visit, and four on the second visit. Both times, we all had varied selections from the fixed-price menu. All were excellent, and portions were appropriate. I am a big guy at 6' 3", 250 lbs, and didn't walk away feeling hungry. On the first visit, I had the 'Codfish Our Way', which was cooked perfectly - moist and tender. The cod was accompanied by mussels, a large prawn, potatoes, and vegetables? The second visit I had moules (mussels) and frites (French fries). The mussels were delicious, cooked in wine & garlic, and the fries were properly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. The service was a bit slow by American standards, but compared favorably to that of other restaurants we visited.Note to tall visitors: the doorways and some of the interior lamps can present a problem if you are not attentive.Bottom line: We will gladly return to L'Estaminet on our next visit to Normandy.

We had a quick lunch yesterday with Foiegras and smoked salmon. Both were great so we decided to come back in the evening. We called if the restaurant was still open and this was the case. Arrived at 21:00. We had diner at the terras under the canopy, which was nice as the temp dropped after a warm day. Half way in our meal they clossed the canopy which instantly dropped the temp from nice to cold. This while we were still at the terras. We moved inside and everybody was already cleaning up. We got yhe feeling they wanted to gey us out asap. Not customer friendly. Regarding the food: the lunch was great the dinner only a fraction from the quality we experienced during lunch. We were greatly disapointed. It was ok but no more than that

After a number years of seeing declining standards in provincial French restaurants we found L'Estaminet a pleasure in terms of friendly service, good local food and reasonable wine. With a modest tip, wine, table d'hôte menu and coffee came to €85 per couple, which I thought good value. Do visit if in the area.

Visited the restaurant during the week of the DDAY celebrations/memorials in June 2017. Reccomended by our friends Rob and Angela who are regulars it is clear why.Great value food with fabulous service served in a lovely French restaurant. We were given picky bits to munch on with our drinks whilst we ordered the food. We all went for the set menu which didn't disappoint and was excellent value. To drink a small jug of wine followed by a potato, pork and camambert tart for starters. Steak and frites for main and chocolate melton moment middle pudding for dessert. The food was really tasty and we had lovely coffee afters also. Very friendly servers who spoke English well to help the few of us who were not very confident speaking French. Clean toilets and a nice decked area outside too. This is a great place to sit then when watching the crowds enjoying the DDAY week. Would recommend and would love to return again if we visit Normandy in the future. Emma, Southampton, England.

All three courses were tasty and well presented. The wine was reasonably priced and quite drinkable. And they have WiFi.

Out of season visit in March - the place was empty of other diners when we arrived, but it is small and cosy enough to still offer a pleasant dining experience. A lovely meal prepared by the young chef.

I have eaten in this restaurant on previous visits to Siante Marie du Mont and always enjoyed great food. But what makes this place a must to visit is the real french welcome the waitress the owners the chef give always. If in the area eat here you will enjoy, more than happy to recomend.

Went here with a group of friends while staying very close by. This give the advantage of being able to relax and enjoy the wine too. The list by the way is very reasonably priced. We had a crisp Alsace white and a Pinot from burgundy, after an aperitifs/beers. The food is rustic, but delicious and reflects the ingredients of the area (think apples, pork, locally caught fish, oysters, cream, creamy cheeses, calvados). The service was friendly and forgiving of our poor French. This was a great value evening and a real boon to this little village and the area.
