Taking a detour from our normal direct route from Ouistreham to our house, we went to Arromanches. Cutting back across country we arrived in Torigni in time for a late lunch.Le Bistrot was heaving... If the patrons could park outside you would not see the place for White Vans - a very good pointer for Menu a Midi. Have no worries about parking, it you will find one just around the corner. We did have to wait about 5 minutes to be seated as the previous patrons were just about finishing their meals... We were given the menu, but asked for the Menu de Jour - which was on a blackboard - and was being selected by others around us. Starter was Rillet (rough pate) with the obligatory lettuice leaf or two and a cornichon (gherkin). Plenty of Bread was provided...The Main was Saucisse Anciene (Not actually OLD Sausage), cut from a very long sausage and cooked in a delicious sause and and enormous helping of frittes. The bread was replenished, and Mustard was also in the basket..The Sweets looked tempting - but alas we were too late - all gone.To drink I had a demi of Jupiter, and my wife (who was driving) had a biere sans alcool. A carafe of water was provided without asking...Service, after we were finally seated was prompt and couteous.
