Well on my first visit some years ago the pressure in the restaurant was evident but I always give a place a second chance and the accommodation has always been good.Things have changed, Laurent, the owner, and his family and staff give a very warm welcome now, the food is good and unhurried, several friends who wouldn't return following bad experiences are now regulars.it is again a place to be recommended.

This was the last stop in our 5-day trip, a reunion of Louisiana friends in France. Unfortunately, one of us had suffered a severe knee sprain and the hotel does not have an elevator. Not to worry! Monsieur Laurent, our gracious host, served her meal in the room on a lovely tray. As we thanked him profusely for his kindness while we were checking out, we noticed a giant bottle of Tabasco sauce on the shelf in the bar. "We knew you were a friend!" we laughed, and set off towards Paris.

Not many customers on a weekday in October and rather lacking in atmosphere. However the traditional menu had some interesting choices and the food was well cooked. The house wine was very good and reasonably priced.

If you are looking for a warm welcome and good service, this is perhaps not your first point of call. No explanation offered as to the dishes on the menu, curious differences between sizes of main courses - Confit Duck served with small portion of lumpy mashed potato but large chicken or salmon dishes as option to the Duck. Lukewarm vegetables. No additional bread offered. Puddings took an age to arrive. Creme Brûlée not made with vanilla pod and a "tuile" could only be described as very poor indeed - far too thick and uncooked in the centre…such errors should not leave a kitchen. Altogether mediocre in every way.

This restaurant is part of the hotel Jean Teyssier. Althought the dining room itself is a bit plain, the food they serve is the contrary. They offer à la carte meals and 2 different menus. The food is excellent, well prepared and nicely presented. The view from the restaurant is very nice.

Food was excellent and the one waitress was very nice and accommodating. In my rating, I give it a four because the food really was very nice, fresh, simple and flavorful. The chef knows about food and presentation and offered a very nice menu. I would definitely go back simply because for the price, the food is right up there with the best of them and is less than half the cost. There is a feeling of fine dining with white table cloths but the atmosphere leaves some to be desired with high lighting and dead silence. No music of any kind. We could hardly talk without being heard by everyone in the room. The people at the table next to us could hear everything we were saying and started a conversation. It ended up being a good thing because they helped us translate the menu to English and were nice but I was tired and didn't really want to engage. I would go back simply because of quality of food and price.

Our hotel restaurant was closed on Mondays so we were booked in here for dinner. After reading the reviews we were not expecting much. We were however quickly shown to a nice corner table with an excellent view over the town. The dining room is laid out a bit like a motorway cafeteria and has not been renovated for at least 20 years. The menu is short an a curious mixture of stalwarts and exotics. We opted for the safety of chicken terrine (bland) and magret de canard (tasty). Afterwards we had chocolate moelleux (very dry and disappointing) and cheese (ordinary). The best thing was an excellent bottle of 2008 Cahors at a very reasonable price. We shall avoid Uzerche on a Monday in future but hey ho this is France!

The menu du terroir is to go for: For a very reasonable price you get more than enough to eat. The winelist is OK and pricy. The profiterolles as dessert are delicious.
