we thought of coffee and croissant in the morning. the personal was pleasant and attentive. we talked to them about their lunch card that looked great, especially the special local venison served with rice and vegetables. they recommended that we be busy, a table as she expects. we did not decide because we were not sure that we would stay in uzes for so long. it turns out we were and went back. although the restaurant was overcrowded, they have us a table. we had the special that was delicious. service was fantastic. great place for a meal in uzes.
after 25 hours travel through cancelled flights and missed trains we arrived after 11 o'clock in uzes and turn to feet for something to eat. everything was closed in a round. a super friendly waiter from a closed restaurant said to follow him where he was. was on a drink when he thought it could be eating. we arrived in the le cafe harvest and the kitchen was closed. but the chef said he would make us an salate so that we sit, order beer and a few minutes later came the most fantastic fresh chicken salads! the chef was incredibly gracious, the waiting person was beautiful and we will never forget their ease. later in the week we went back a few times for coffee, breakfast and lunch and loved it all. the waiter and cook remembered us and always let us be welcome, and that was fantastic. we return to uzes and often plan to visit le cafe earnest.
I have to give a very big thank you to Ernest, Susie and Xavier for making my husband's surprise lunch such a surprise! We have been coming to Uzes for quite a few years and this is my husband's favourite place for a glass of...wine, the plat du jour or anything they recommend. It was a Saturday so a very busy market day and they kindly catered for 17 people with superb food, wine, dessert and coffee. If you are in Uzes please don't just pass this cafe call in have a drink or a meal it is superb.
We dined here at lunchtime on the recommendation of a local ex-pat and also to be there before 12.30 pm when the plat du jour often runs out. The main was typically French beautifully cooked fresh fish fillet on a bed of ratatouille...and beans followed by creme caramel dessert delicious -and all for 13.50 euros pp. Friendly hosts despite the restaurant being full. Would definitely recommend this place.
Now that the Bengali is closed for renovations I tried this restaurant for a solo lunch having only used it as a bar in the past. Two brothers own and operate the restaurant. Food was very well prepared and tasty as well as good value....Beef can often disappoint in France as it seems to not be aged much if at all but my steak was cooked to perfection and tender. Nice sauteed vegetables presented on a sweet potato puree. I copied the fellow at the next table and ordered a side of yummy fries. A pichet of an Uzes red made for a lovely meal. I opted to have dessert and coffee outside on a cold but sunny day and enjoyed a very good tiramisu. I'll be back
