We visited using a discount voucher on a Friday evening. Trying to book was a nightmare the phone was not answered and the conditions of our voucher was we had to book 48 hours before we wanted to go. Eventually we got through on the day of our visit and seemingly there was no problem for booking that night. But for us not a good start!When we arrived we were met by a young guy you turned out to be a trainee, he gabbled through the menu and seemingly demanded instant decisions, still not a good experience and we were beginning to wonder why we had come.We ordered and when the food arrived very pleasantly surprized how good it was. My wife had a pastry filled cheese and ham parcel on a bed of salad and I had the fried camembert on a green salad both were exceptional. The salad was fresh dressing tasteful and we were both warming to the restaurant. Our main courses were a cod with a crispy topping and a good entrecote steak. The house chips were great and both our dishes were well cooked. The wine list was priced reasonably and quality very good. We would certainly go back.There were very few other customers which was a shame because they deserve better, however this meant the restaurant had a cold atmosphere. From our perspective with a little bit of effort this could be an exceptional restaurant, Why not have an answering machine and call customers back when they are trying to book. Have a written menu and give customers a chance to consider what thy want. But most of all continue cooking good food.
