Taiwanese 527 Cafe is a must for all foodies! While the ice is not snowy like in Taiwan, the shave ice is absolutely delectable every time we have it....which is about twice a month winter and weekly summertime. This restaurant was recommended by my Chinese friends. I had their Takoyaki, Taiwanese Beef with Rice Noodle Soup and Taiwanese Style Fried Rice recently. Takouaki is really tasty and I highly recommend this but the other two are not good at all. Rice noodle soup had no any flavor, it just tasted like a mix of water and rice. Fried rice was too salty. To be honest, I might not go this place again even there are lots of others in their menu.
1st time today and WON'T come back. 2 orders of popcorn chicken are dried and overcooked. Pork chop Benton other types of benton are slightly tiny size for $12-$14. Turnip cake is dried and burned. Other items we ordered are all slightly smaller than Taipei Cafe and Jasmine in Chicago Chinatown.
Quick and friendly. I ordered the black sesame milk tea with taro boba at 30% sugar level, beef noodle soup, and green onion pancake. Everything was delicious. Noodles were cooked well and beef was tender; very flavorful soup. If I could eat more I would have ordered two or more items to try.

We love coming here whenever we’re in Evanston! Our favorites are the popcorn chicken, beef noodle soup, and the Taiwanese style fried rice. We also love trying the new drinks on their menu! Highly recommend!
One of my favorite places in Evanston. Friendly staff and a delicious menu — I've been coming to 527 every week for years and it's still wonderful. Try the fruit juices and the popcorn chicken!
Ordered kimchi fried rice, popcorn chicken and taro tea. Fried rice and popcorn chicken were not tasty, specially the fired rice was really bad. I am sorry but I feel sad spending 30$ here.
Absolutely love this place! Their tea is delicious. Their black sesame Taiwanese tea is so rich and unique. I also love that they offer 1/2 sweet and 1/3 sweet.
