My wife and I have been travelling through France for the past 11 years on our annual vacation and every year we stay at the wonderful family run Hotel a la Ferme and eat at their restaurant A L'Aigle d'Or. The restaurant has three distinct dining options, the Winstub, a low key but elegant dining area offering traditional French/Alsatian dishes, the restaurant and Grand Salon where the a la carte menu can be experienced. We have eaten just about everything on the a la carte menu along with numerous local specials over the years and have never been disspointed. The food is beautifully prepared time after time and served professionally by one of the family or one of the polite efficient waiting staff, many of who have worked at the restaurant for years. Even when full the service is impeccable. The restaurant is also aesthetically beautiful with many original features that make eating there a real treat. If you want delicious food, cooked from the heart and served with a smile by a family who have the whole process off pat , oh and very reasonably priced for the high standard then give A L'Aigle d'Or a visit if ever you are passing.

On our first visit we ate in the gastronomique part of the restaurant and really enjoyed the 4 course Hellman menu. Each course was very good and generous portion sizes. The pot au feu cabillaud was a lovely surprise. The suggested glasses of wine for each course were excellent. On our second night we ate in the more casual winstub and had another lovely dinner. Reservations recommended for both.

I ate there with business colleagues from America and China. We all loved the food. It’s like a dinner “Journey” because you get so many little things along the way. The food was delicious and you can tell the wait staff are formally trained. Very friendly family feel to the place. Bring your checkbook though because it was ~80 Euro per person including wine, dessert and coffee.
