I don't know why it ever took me so long to try it here. It's really good. I cheated and looked at the menu online ahead of time, and it sounded so delish, and didn't disappoint. It's warm and cozy inside, with nice decor and...lots of tealights to give it a nice atmosphere (along with the Afghani music). The waiter was quick to greet us and give us the menus, and after ordering, the food came out in good time and was all cooked the way we asked for, and the right modifications were made too. We understand that this restaurant has been here over 25 years. We can see why. The decor, service and food is authentic, genuine and really enjoyable. It’s so obvious that the food here is cooked with love and pride. We had never had Afghan food...before. It’s sort of like a mixture of middle eastern, Asian and Indian even. This is probably misleading though. It is it’s own cuisine of course with a rich history and it’s very tasty and rustic on what we had here. We loved every single dish we tried. Have been to Afgan Village on a number of occasions and is always a pleasure to dine here. Wide variety of menu items, the food is always plentiful with very aromatic flavours. Banquets are offered if you're not sure what to get. The staff are...very friendly and helpful. Ambience is lovely very cozy, with low lighting with traditional Afghani décor. BYO option is always a winner. A must visit restaurant if you're down Camberwell. You will leave happy!
