Akari Japanese Restaurant

Akari is a very unassuming Japanese restaurant offering superb cuisine at very affordable prices. The menu is extensive so we had trouble deciding as everything looked like it would be wonderful. We chose 6 dishes to share including a special of the day. Prawn dumplings, eel sushi, beef teriyaki, rice and the mixed box which included oysters tuna octopus and omelette. Every mouthful was a taste sensation and the beef cooked to perfection. Definitely a top restaurant with lovely service.

Akari is underneath one of Melbourne's hidden treasures, Uptown Jazz Club - small casual, where the patrons actually shut up and listen to some of australia's jazz greats - oh yes, there's a full bar and they make an excellent martini. First enjoy the fresh, honestly cooked food downstairs then wander up - about 8.30 - and check out the music for a perfect night

We have been to Akari many times and really like the unassuming restaurant. How veer, Cudo currently have a deal on for a 10 course meal at Akari for $69 and we bought it. The food and service as usual was fabulous. In fact, we couldn't even finish the food.Highly recommend going, doubt be deceived, the good and people are fabulous.We will be back soon!

We dined here mid week as a walk-in late in the evening for us - 9.20. We selected a number of dishes from the entree specials board to share, and were more than a bit surprised with the quality of the dishes. We love Japanese, and I'm sure we'll be back here soon. Service was very good, decent but small wine list and a good range of sake. Réservez une table maintenant

I ate in this little restaurant twice in one week, the ambience is quiet and elegant, the food is beautifully presented. Specials of soft shell crab and gyoza were very good, miso tasty, the edamame and mixed tempura both generous. Small stone jars of warm sake were of good quality.

We actually bought a Living Social deal for a 10 course meal at for $69 including a glass of wine. The food and service was fabulous. Will definitely come back. The atmosphere was welcoming and semi intimate.

We went there one night without being particularly hungry but everyone finish his plate as it was just really good. I enjoyed the noodles while my friends shared different sushis which looked really yummy.

This restaurant has some interesting specials and a drink list worth checking for beers and sake. We have eaten here several times and it is worth returning. Réservez une table maintenant

Great Japanese food. Have great banquets and great value for money 3 courses to choose from. Attentive staff and very authentic fresh sushi and sashimi.
