Excellent food and drinks. I had an alley jr burger (4oz over the 8oz regular burger), fries, mango Paloma and a key lime pie. The burger was juicy and had good flavor. The fries were small yet delicious (note: they charge extra for special sauces for the fries). The Paloma was very good and refreshing. The key lime pie was yummy. It wasn’t too late and just the right servicing size. They have a large selection of bourbon and tequila and it seems to be busy for happy hour. Be sure to make a reservation; without it you may not get a table. I only gave it 4 stars for atmosphere because it was. But loud in there so sometimes it was hard to hear the server.
I came in for some dinner the hostess was great but when I got to the bar the bartender gave me a water and didn’t speak to me ever again I had to call one over to ask if they had pasta. To which she responded with “no we have risotto” that’s it. So I’m sitting down and a new guest sits next to me and the bartender introduces herself, asks the lady if she had any allergies and was completely attentive to this lady which made me seem like maybe this place isn’t for me. I work in the service industry and no one should feel that way. As I’m sitting here writing this review no one has said anything to me once again mind you I’m at the bar. I’m leaving
I went on Sunday and the hostess was rude and annoying so we didn’t eat here. UPDATE: We made a reservation a Tuesday night and first we got drinks; Gracie on holiday and Chipiona both were very well served and great! Appetizers: the cheese board; unfortunately they didn’t have the three cheeses and the beef tartare. Then we had the spring vegetable risotto which was my favorite and the Alley burger. The service was awesome our waitresses Rob and Shay were professional and kind. The place is really cute and they have tables outside. It was an enjoyable dinner.
It was my first visit, and I had heard so much about this place. It did not disappoint; in fact, it exceeded my expectations! The drinks were exceptional, both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails. The food was delicious as well, especially the pimento cheese and the burger. The experience was made even better by Corree, who was such a joy to chat with at the bar. This has become one of my favorite experiences in Durham, and I can't wait to return!
