I’m a 58-year-old man trying to keep in shape—besides round, that is—and this place isn’t doing me any favors. When you hand someone, like me, a perfectly baked, one-meter-long baguette that’s still warm, you’d expect that person to take some responsibility for their choices. But no! The guy behind the counter, donning a mask—not just for show, but a COVID mask, giving off a vibe of kindness—just smiles at you and wishes you a good day. How can someone act like that and still sleep well at night? Here’s a tip: the baguettes come out at 10:30 a.m., and they go fast, so I’ll see you there at 10:30. I’ll be the one who resembles a round shape!
