I appreciated the pre-flight text messages leading up to my flight back to Chicago Illinois with changes to either gate or departure time. I uploaded the American Airlines application with hopes of being able to retrieve my boarding pass but could not, resulting in me having to see a flight attendant which ended up being a breeze. Best believe I arrived early because I was not familiar with John F. Kennedy International Airport, as well as the commute via MTA New York City Transit. As for my airport experience, TSA was crowded, but the lines were moving! TSA allowed all individuals to leave everything like electronics inside of bags due to them having a high-quality X-ray tunnel. I was anticipating for my bag to be searched due to having toothpaste in it once again, hehe. This time I mashed it in order to make it smaller in inches. It may not have been a problem to leave it alone, but I did not want to take any chances. The American Airlines departure gate was easy to navigate to. The seats within the gate were exceptionally clean but could use some hourly cleaning due to little food particles, and drink stains left by individuals waiting to board. I loved the addition of the USB and power outlets for phone or laptop charge which allowed me to recharge my phone prior to flying out; there were some that worked and some that did not, but I was grateful to recharge my phone because that commute via MTA New York City Transit took its toll on my battery. Now as for my onboard experience, I was able to charge my phone as I slept on flight in order to keep my battery charged. I found power outlets on the lower part of the seats in front of me. After taking my melatonin, I slept the majority of the flight, so I had little communication with the flight attendants other than the boarding flight hello, a flight attendant asking me if I wanted a drink snack as I woke up briefly, and the post airplane departure goodbye greeting. And as for the airplane interior, the seat was comfortable. On this flight, I had an acceptable amount of leg room on top of having my backpack underneath the seat in front of me. In spite of the delays leading up to my departure, I survived and would be open to flying with American Airlines, as well as recommending to a friend, relative or colleague after this experience. Safe travels, and blessings to all that read this review. Have courage. Be Kind. Thomas G

As the world's largest airline, it only feels fitting that American has its own dedicated terminal in JFK's growing fleet of flight options. Despite having flown them often for the better part of the last decade, I'm not exactly their biggest fan but I am one of their more frequent flyers. #1) Like any US based airline, they have their faults. Here at JFK, it comes in the form of flight delays, shotty service, and extremely devalued perks for even the most seasoned AA Elite. Flying American is supposed to be about convenience #2) but most travelers new and old aren't registering it this way. The good news is that due to the saturation international domestic flights and the fact JFK is an east coast American hub, there is no shortage of options. This means flying direct to other continents through their domestic fleet or international partners and the chances of being re-booked on a similar itinerary is high. And another perk of Terminal 8 is the fact they have lounges. Not everyone is in the Admirals Club, but the option of even having it during difficult travel days is a gamechanger for some folks. Not all of the other JFK terminals even have dedicated lounges, so this is a big plus. No carrier is perfect, and American still has a lot of holes to fill. I'd rather fly out of here in JFK than many other places that AA flies, but it's still 3 stars for me. ___________ #1) The OneWorld life chose me. #2) Which hardly the case.

Worst airline in America....according to the Wall Street Journal.....going on the 3rd year in a row. 91% of their flights are delayed. 82% are delayed more than 30 min. Rude employees, the most uncomfortable seats in the industry, terrible rewards program.... After 7 straight years of executive platinum status (1.3 million miles) i make it a point to never fly AA. If you choose to give to your money.....they'll screw something up. It's a guarantee.

Easy check in with TSA pre and JFK is fun once in awhile. Business class is worth the flight credits and extra money!! In flight WiFi is $25 which sucks but at least I can text and answer emails and more importantly post Yelp reviews in flight!! The movie selection is lame! My eyes are dry from the recirculated air. Hmmm, what else can I complain about? Lolol
