Anishinaabe Shack is a food truck located in Orono, right off Highway 115 next to the Petro-Canada gas station (at the same Concession Road 3 exit as Popeye's and McDonald's). While they offer the typical burgers, hot dogs, and fries, the real highlight here is the Navajo Taco! It starts with delicious deep-fried bread, known as Bannock or Indian Fry Bread, topped with your choice of taco ingredients. It's absolutely amazing! You can also enjoy a hot dog wrapped in the fry bread, customized with your favorite toppings. For dessert, they offer a sweet version with butter, honey, and cinnamon sugar. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the food is fantastic. I highly recommend checking it out...
Incredible food! Portion is huge...$10 for a Navajo taco. The dessert Bannock was incredible. It is covered in butter, honey, and cinnamon sugar.I wanted to update my review as Google took us to the wrong location. This food truck is not located at the Petro-Canada gas station with the tim Hortons in the parking lot. If this is the location your maps takes you to, then it is incorrect. Stay on the 115 for another 8-10 minutes and you will see a McDonald's and Popeyes chicken on the Eastbound side, get off at Concession Rd 3 and it will be in THAT Petro-Canada parking lot.I have requested an update to the location but nothing has changed as of yet.
What else can I say? The Navajo Taco is incredible, and the poutine is the best I've ever had! The fries are fantastic, the gravy is perfect, the cheese curds are of excellent quality, and the ratio is spot on! The bannock is lovely as well, and I must mention that the staff are truly nice and friendly. I can't recommend them highly enough!
