The restaurant opened in April of 1993 in Brookline, by the owners Ludmila and Natan Slezinger. In 2005 they found a new home for the restaurant in Newton Center. Together they created an atmosphere of aristocratic dining with classic cuisine, with the warm feeling that you are dining at your aristocratic grandmother’s table. If you're looking for home-cooked meals in a friendly atmosphere with great prices, this is the perfect spot for Russian, Georgian, and Ukrainian cuisine. The restaurant has ample space for events and parties, and the staff is wonderful. It's not a fancy place, but that's part of its charm. The prices are very reasonable, and the food is always fresh—just like Grandma would make! Come on in and enjoy a taste of home. They're open when they're open, and if you find them there, they'll be happy to cook for you. Just be kind, and you'll have the best experience!
My fiancé and I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant last night! Despite a party happening in another room, the staff was attentive and accommodating. We began our meal with the meat cabbage Pirozhok, which we enjoyed so much that they disappeared in no time. For our main courses, we ordered the Pozharski Cutlet and Beef Stroganoff, both of which were hearty and incredibly delicious. To top it all off, we tried their infused vodka—Jalapeño Honey and Cranberry—and it was a delightful surprise. We are definitely planning to return!
Cafe St. Petersburg will forever and always have a special place in my heart! From huge gatherings, to karaoke, to simply stopping in for a delicious meal this place has it all! Great ambiance, tasty food, and a peaceful Friday lunch—what more could you ask for? Just a tip: if you want to dine in on a busy Friday, either come during a quieter time or make a dinner reservation a week in advance. They definitely need more chefs!
