This is a weekend favourite! Get down on a Saturday for the incredible Nasi Lemak. With tender rendang and a squid curry it is so tasty and satisfying. If you're lucky there may still be some curry puffs. Though they tend to run out. If you can't make it on a Saturday then I recommend the roti canai. The roti is super fluffy and hot and the curry is tangy. Every time we go here we have to get it. The service is quick but the seating is limited. For a quick, delicious Malaysian lunch at a small price $5 for roti canai) you have to try Ashfield Cafe. They have burgers too but I can't go past the Malaysian favourites.
This restaurant offers authentic, delicious, and affordable Malaysian cuisine. From the outside, it may appear to be just a typical fast food joint near the train station. However, once you step inside, you will be greeted with a menu featuring a variety of noodle dishes, rice dishes, and curries. Based on a friend's suggestion, we tried their chicken rice and Char Kway Teow (CKT) dishes, both of which exceeded our expectations in terms of taste and portion size. I particularly enjoyed their condiment table, especially the unlimited supply of chili. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant in the future.
Looks terrible, tastes great. This amazing place masquerades as your typical burger and chips joint across from the station but don't be fooled. They do make burgers and chips and a decent egg and bacon roll, but you're really here for some of the best noodles in Sydney. These are the real deal, authentic and they taste amazing. Try something new from the menu every time you go. <br/ <br/ The friendly guy who owns the joint also deserves your cash, he's a decent person and you don't feel bad spending your money here.
I absolutely love this Malaysian restaurant. It feels like sitting in the vibrant night markets of Penang, but in a nostalgic Aussie/Greek takeaway shop from the 70s. The food may not be mind-blowing, but it is truly authentic. The Hainan chicken is served Malaysian style with sauce drizzled over it, the chicken curry, char kway teow, and mee goreng are all fantastic. However, the rendang was tasty but the meat was very fatty. Now I just need a never-ending long neck of Anchor beer to complete the experience.

FANTASTIC FOOD AND SERVICE. This restaurant has been in Ashfield for years. Very large servings and at bargain prices-most about $9.Very friendly staff. All the food is cooked fresh and when I went there on a Monday for lunch, the place was full..Very tasty food.
The Malay cuisine at this restaurant is delicious! I visited on a Saturday and they offer both Hainanese chicken with chicken rice and Nasi lemak. The curry puff and variety of sauces were all tasty! The staff and chefs were all very friendly.
Authentic hawker food. Generous servings for $10 per dish. Char keuy teow and Hainanese chicken are good. Prawn mee and laksa are pretty good.Help yourself to condiments good idea.
Always come here for the nasi goreng which is really flavoursome and filling. The service was great and they brought the meals to our table. Very cheap prices for what you get!

Lovely hawker style for your quick cheap fix of malaysian. I have been going back there for years. Even when i no longer live in ashfield. Place is in a milk bar.
Fried Kway Teow $8.70. It has the nice smoky wok flavours we love, and it's not too oily. Yum.
