the workers at the whately hall hotel make a great work under extremely difficult circumstances. the historical building in which the reception rooms, which are bar and the restaurant, is a large space and is very well maintained. everything was immaculately clean and there were plenty of signs, sanitisers and masks. her service was friendly and helpful, and we were well looked after. the food was delicious and the drinks were cheaper. there were other customers, but there are enough rooms that were never close to what we appreciate, and the team has a great task in managing this. I would definitely visit again.

My husband’s medium rare steak was well done and his potatoes looked and tasted recycled, my prawn skewer was undercooked and the various dressings on the plate clashed way too much vinaigrette on the salad leaves, combined with sweet chilli on the prawns and tzatziki as well really was an assault on the senses. The wait staff were doing their best to do a good job and the garden is lovely sunny and spacious which is important at this time. We won’t be back though. I could cook a better quality meal at home for 1/6th of the price.

We were the only people in the restaurant so I wouldn’t say there was any ambiance except that one of our party described it as dining on the Marie Celeste. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive but our food took nearly an hour to arrive after ordering which we thought was too long. When the food did come it was very nice.

The food was decent, but we were asked to arrive earlier than our reservation time of 8:30 because last orders are taken at 8:40. This seems to be a way to avoid the kitchen team working too late, but can be inconvenient if you want to enjoy dessert.
The staff at Whateley restaurant seemed a bit clueless as they did not know what utensils to provide, which was a little off-putting. However, the manager was very attentive and the atmosphere was enjoyable.
The newly renovated restaurant was stunning, with fantastic decor and atmosphere. The service was excellent, and the entire team was incredibly friendly. The food was absolutely delicious.
