Early morning on 30-8-19, the young women working here stole my money. I had ordered coffees in a cafe near the temple, and they recommended this boulangerie, if I wanted something to go with the coffee. I was in a hurry, as my companion was waiting in the cafe, so I went around the corner to this boulangerie. I was the only customer, and I requested two patisseries for around 4-5 euros. I gave the young woman a 20 euro bill, and she handed me change only in monnaies. I was in a hurry, and I have never had anyone try to steal money from me in France, so I said “Merci, au revoir” and rushed out. The girl looked at me strangely, and did not say anything, which was bizarre. I was almost back to the cafe, when I realized that the girl did not give me the correct money back. She stole 10 euros from me. My companion insisted I go demand my money, but I did not want a big fight, as I am a guest in France. I have been in France many times, and I have visited countless cities and villages, yet not a single person tried to steal my money — until I got to Vienna and this pathetic boulangerie.
Run by former head baker at three -Michelin- star restaurant in Vienne, which is easily noticable in the quality of products. Located in the very centre of historic Vienne, near the ancient ruins of the temple. The variety of artisan breads and baguettes baked in place is big but Bucheron (special mixed flour bread with grains) and baguette grand siegle are absolutely to die for! There is also a wide range of sweets available, from which brioche aux pralines (typical from that region) and tartelette au citron are must-haves.
