Avalanche Bar & Grill

I visited this pub on a special concert night. It was packed and the music was terrific. As such, the service seemed slow at our table. But then, we didn't order much alcohol either. My friend and I got our drinks OK, but when I ordered coffee it came bitter and overcooked. I asked the waitress for more cream, and she never came back, so I ended up taking the cold cup back to the bar and asking for an entirely new one; it was still bitter and strong, but I got a whole glass of creamers to help. Kudos to the pub for the music; you need to get more staff for your busy music nights.

We went there on one of the Thursday jazz evenings, came early but still got literally the last table in the place. It was packed. They had a 3-course dinner for a very reasonable price but we were only there for drinks and share plates. The latter came after a long wait, by the time they reached us the food was nearly cold. Be warned that conversation is frowned upon by some jazz enthusiasts, even though it's a BAR and not the Lincoln Centre.

This is a great place to get drunk... They have some great shows also and Free Pool on Sundays... It's an all around good small town bar. If you are older I would suggest sticking to the day time hours, especially on weekends. If you are younger and like to party hard then show up after about 10pm. I would defiantly vote this best bar to get drunk in.....

Went to Jazz Night and really enjoyed the caliber of entertainment. The food was great we had drinks, wings (on special,) yam fries and loaded nachos over the course of the evening. The servers were fantastic, the ambiance at Jazz night was really nice. We will go back! Réservez une table maintenant

I stopped in for some supper on Monday night the food was excellent I was very impressed the barkeep she seemed to know most of the people in there by first name and was very friendly and made this dining experience enjoyable.

Ok for the older crowd in the day time. Night time the younger set take over. A few pool tables, front garage doors open in summer for open air feel. Cheap beer specials. Large stage for venues. My meal was great.

what a place! great stage, good beer, decent menu, great slipper. a true favorite for live music lovers. look at the jazz society sponsored Thursday shows. what a great place!

my friend and I usually come here the week, we love the pool is free. they make the best cesars. we have not tried to eat, but bartenders are very friendly: Réservez une table maintenant

If you like playing pool, they have free pool one nights. Its a small place with live band, great place to go out in Courtenay
