Avatar Indian Cuisine

The food quality at Avatar is excellent, very fresh and obviously made with care and good quality ingredients/spices (not always the case in Indian restaurants). The restaurant is comfortable and the service each time has been faultless. Whilst the restaurant is not cheap, you get what you pay for through excellent food, ambience and service. My only criticism of the food is of the pistachio kulfi, we don't mind paying $10, however such a small service size was insulting. Unfortunately we probably won't bother coming here for dinner anymore as the owner persists in asking us several questions whenever we book a table for dinner of a friday night. avatar is one of a few Indian restaurants that have opened lately in Melbourne that attempt to break the traditional mould when it comes to decor, ambience and most importantly, menu. These new restaurants are coming up with newer elements in their offering that break the traditional (and tired) "rogan josh, malai kofta, palak paneer" type offerings. And avatar is one of the refreshing new breed of indian restaurant. The decor is simple, elegant and inviting. The service is friendly and good. The menu is terrific. Go. Visit. We will be, again... soon!

Avatar's style is quite different than a typical Indian restaurant. It is very a well decorated, modern and trendy type of restaurant. The restaurant was full but there was no indian customers last night. Food was very good. I took the Kashmiri lamb. The manager told me, their menu was 80% North Indian, 20% South Indian. Service was very good and very professional.

Great food as always. Both my husband and I have very sensitive stomachs but we never have a problem with the food here. The food is not oily like most Indian restaurants and everything is presented beautifully. My dairy allergy is always taken care of which is a bonus. Réservez une table maintenant

I checked the reviews and gave it a try. Wonderful Indian food. Enjoyed immensely with some excellent wine. Steve, was the perfect host explaining the extensive menu and made some excellent choices. Definitely recommend

Beautiful food and excellent service. Reasonable priced and very tasty. The Chicken Tika Masala was my favorite.
