We had several visits here during a recent stay in Adelaide, on on occasion we had lunch (the Bacchus fish basket of fish, prawns and calamari) then went and sat on the beach and decided to go back for a platter for dinner (cured meats, cheese, fish, salad). I think that this shows how good the place is. It has a great open front section where you can sit watch the world go by and then watch the sun set. They have a great beer selection in various sizes of pints/jugs and a also a good cocktail list. The food is great, never took too long to cook and the service is fantastic and relaxed. This place is a glorified deli. Not a wine bar. Food: good. View: good Music: good Service: terrible Not sure what kind of vibe they're going for here, but what they have achieved is an awkward experience for the customer. Wait staff seem to be having a lovely time taking selfies and checking out each other's outfits ("Just perving on your outfit hun ") whilst we are waiting to be served. When asked about which wine was which and where the cutlery for our meals were, we were treated like we were a huge inconvenience. No smiles. No one asked how the meals were. Previously we had breakfast at Bacchus and really liked the food. This time as a threesome we tried lunch and were not disappointed.The lamb and fetta pizza is something special. If you were going as a foursome we could suggest the "Sunset Platter"and the "Mixed Grill" these are both for 2 but together are really a large meal for 4. The missing menu item is salad - the amounts served with meals and variety of salad choices are very limited.There is a nice view of the beach, the service is good and they really do cater for people who like to take their dogs for a walk to the cafe.
Bacchus is a great place to spend summer evenings drinking cider watching the sun set over Henley Beach. We often come here to grab a quick bite to eat whilst watching the world go by. The calamari are delicious, they come served with a chickpea salad and dressed with an aioli. The fish tacos are also tasty, with a good amount of heat and generously filled with salad and large pieces of battered fish. I've known about Bacchus Wine Bar for years but have never ventured in the doors for some reason until yesterday. It was a lovely evening at Henley Square and this was a great place for a couple of glasses of wine and some nibbles. There is no table service here but otherwise the service is very friendly. The food arrived promptly and was delicious - all tapas items and the pizza were good.
We discovered this restaurant on a visit to Henley Beach and we couldn't go past $12.50 fish'n'chips. We were so warmly welcomed, nothing was any trouble, excellent wine choice, good menu, wonderful view and ambience. We were all so pleased to have eaten lunch here and happily recommend it. Thanks heaps to Anna and Anna for a delightful lunch and such warm hospitality.
I thought I was confused about life and then I went here. Now I know the definition of confusion, which makes me no less confused, but decidedly more smug. Food isn't bad but I don't understand the décor or menu. Roman? Hawaiian? Australian? Clarification of intention is required.
