I ordered three meat combinations: brisket, baby back ribs, and pulled pork. Unfortunately, the baby back ribs were the most disappointing, lacking the flavor I was expecting after having enjoyed them elsewhere. I was really looking forward to them. On the other hand, I was pleasantly surprised by the brisket! I didn’t have high expectations, but it was flavorful and perfectly smoked. The pulled pork was decent but nothing special—just average.

J'avais l'habitude de commander Two Meats special avec les deux types de viande Tri Tips jusqu'à ce que le caissier me dise que c'était un peu moins cher de commander le TriTips Dinner et que tout était à peu près pareil. When I received the email in my inbox with the first line Have you ever wondered how BBQ joints slowly cook their meat to drop it-off-the-bone? I'm pretty sure I screamed YES! When I found out that I would participate in a back-the-scene look at Bad To The Bone BBQ, I was sold. I was never before, so when I learned that Marty Wells, the owner, would be there to share some of his secrets and answer my BBQ questions, I marked it in my calendar. My really important question was when it comes to BBQ sauce, are you a Drencher or a Dipper? Because I want to keep you in retaliation, scroll down for the answer.
I personally adore the Tri-Tips at this restaurant. I used to order the Two Meats special with both types of Tri Tips until the cashier recommended the Tri-Tips Dinner which was a bit cheaper and just as filling. I also love their corn on the cob with cilantro and chile butter so much that I always choose it as both of my sides. My friend always orders the Ribs with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed veggies, and often saves the leftovers for lunch the next day. In my opinion, Bad To The Bone is a hidden gem in San Juan Capistrano.
Bad to the Bone is a local favorite for a good reason the food is good. Today, the tri-tip sandwich was fantastic, and I almost ordered another to get more of the taste in my mouth. I stopped coming for a while but I enjoyed this meal so I will be coming back.Food: 5/5
Great BBQ and Atmosphere!. This place is on our power rotation any time there is a guy event birthday dinner, special events or when we just want to eat like a man this is a great little place that we highly recommend!
