When Banh Meee started with their food truck, I was skeptical. Authentic Vietnamese food made from a truck? I have had their Viet slaw, short ribs, and Pho Bo from their food truck and every thing was amazing! So when they opened their storefront in Hartford, I was super excited to try it. Off-street parking is pretty plentiful, as I've been down there twice in the last few weeks during lunchtime. I had Pho 2-in-1, eggrolls, Bun Rieu, Banh Mi Bo, Viet Iced Tea and their passionfruit tea. Everything I've had from them is either just as good as my Vietnamese mother's cooking, or better (I never thought that was possible)! Dropped by banh.meee for dinner and ordered the Pho Mi Banh Mi! Absolutely amazing! It’s the Pho flavor slowly cooked into brisket in the context of a banh mi without the sogginess of a broth . I honestly haven't enjoyed a meal like this in a long time. The food had a unique freshness that you rarely find in other restaurants. Sure, it’s a small, quirky space, and the iPad ordering might take some getting used to. I’m not familiar with their background, but I definitely plan to return. Noodles were amazingly good! Order must be placed through kiosks which means there is no human server taking an order for you. A clever system for both the owner and customer. The kiosk system asks for less tip than convention. Not many seatings and street parking. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Tasty and authentic food in Frog Hollow. Great location, friendly service, comfortable space. A big win for local vegetarians too with meat-free banh mi and pho menu options. A great addition to the Capitol Avenue neighborhood!
