Barkley Johnson Deli and Wine

We popped in here after the movies in Yarraville on a Friday night for a glass of wine and something light to eat. We could have been in Italy or France - it is so European and very relaxed.We ordered the charcuterie platter along with a few other things and couldn't have been more impressed! The platter was seriously good - I am usually so disappointed by platters, but this one was very substantial and had a fabulous selection of quality salami and hams. The wine list is impressive, some very interesting vintages and we enjoyed a couple of very good reds. The cheese platter looked really delicious as well but we were too full to try it!What a gem! I will definitely go back and highly recommend it. Great service as well - you can't book a table but we had no problem getting one when we turned up.

Host Jim and his staff are amazing. Food is great and the selection of wine and packaged beers in huge. Deli provides a big range of cheese/meats and accompaniments. Always something interesting on tap and wines from a variety of regions by the glass is a great way to 'taste the world'. Sit anywhere in this bar and you will meet someone interesting - perhaps someone new or an old friend. I would recommend Barkly Johnson to anyone for any occasion - including a great coffee. Always something happening here.

This place is so narrow with stock stacked all around the place that it's awkward and uncomfortable. And to use the toilet, you enter in and out right next to where people are drinking and eating.......it's awkward and unpleasant. Great wine, the deli products look good, it's just uncomfortable. Won't return.

Everything about Barkley Johnson is excellent. Always a warm welcome, great selection of drinks and knowledgeable staff when you need a bottle to take home. Best bar in Melbourne that is the first we think of when needing an after work drink.

Always a welcome smile and chat, wish they were in England!!! Lots of information for other food/drink places in other areas, fantastic selection of wines and ciders! Lovely food to enjoy with a glass of wine - or drink of your choice!
