We get there and there 's only 2 people working front of house, which took them at least 15 minutes to get us drinks, despite there only being 2 or 3 other tables. The salads were good. I ordered the spicy chipotle chicken pizza and after a long time we received our food. The pizza was inedibly spicy. I have a slightly above average spice tolerance but this was ridiculous. They take it back and I get a burger instead. I walk in to go to the dingy little bathroom and I hear the manager talking to a bar patron about how it says spicy right on the menu, and therefore I should 've known. When it says chipotle that kind of sets an expectation of how hot it 's going to be, which shouldn 't be very...
Barley Johns is one of my favorite places in the TC metro. The beer, both their own brews and the guest taps are always worth the trip but above that, BJs has some of the best whiskey prices per shot anywhere. When they have it, I always opt for the Little Barley Bitter, just in love with that beer as well as the wild rice brew. The food is always great at a price that is not gonna hurt you too terribly. Summer time on the enormous patio is the best spot to drink a beer in the city, not jocky, annoying or full of douches. Absolutely a great spot.
We often come to use our Barley Beer Society cards that give us a beer every time we come. But we wouldn't eat here so often (2-3 times a month at least) if the food specialties weren't so good. You have a really good cook here and friendly efficient service. I agree that it is loud and crowded inside and we eat outside at any time the weather allowed. The regular menu is one step or two of most bar food, but the specialties are far above.
This is not a new, bright jewel, that is a Minnesota gem. Absolutely wonderful menu and food that goes beyond and beyond. The burger was one of the most tasteful, clean burgers I ever had (with many options). MN influenced salads and apps taste like the fields from which the ingredients were picked! So fresh, so good! Everyone has to try. Will return regularly.

Cuban sandwich good pig and very tasty swansons stout a bit bitter and fizzy. Like the special menu. It is good food and changes often. Like the Barley Beer Society map. It costs about $60 and gets you a free beer every visit from any type you haven't tried. Happy hourly prices all the time. We eat here often and so we have to evaluate many times.
Actually, not much of a review: I stopped by this restaurant on a Tuesday afternoon during their special event, but without a reservation. Despite this, they were willing to accommodate us and make us feel welcome.
The beer selection was impressive, featuring a good variety with some brews made on-site and others on tap from guest breweries. The food was tasty, although it felt a bit pricey and the menu was somewhat limited.
Although it's a bit challenging to get to, this cozy little spot is perfect for enjoying drinks and meals with friends. During the warmer months, I highly recommend spending time on their terrace.

Does anyone remember the building that used to be Perry's Drive-In, located on the northwest corner of Johnson Street NE and Avenue? They have since moved the building.
You must visit this place at least once. It may not be anything groundbreaking, but that's all part of its charm. We enjoyed a few beers and shared a meal together.
