I've visited Barca a few times and each time the service has blown hot and cold. So it was again yesterday. After waiting minutes to be seated and another to have our glasses filled, the wait staff could not have been more attentive....Every few minutes someone came by to ask if we were OK. I lost my thread of conversation several times with my wife, after being asked if, We needed anything' over and over again. We're sat here with full glasses of wine and full plates of food what could we possibly want? At one point I was looking across the road at something and a waiter appeared out of nowhere to enquire, how can I help . And then, just like that, the service vanished. Our glasses sat empt...
My expectations were high...Overall food was good,their interpretation of certain dishes was interesting...we started with the olive bandarillias, a bit of smoky paprika or spicy paprika, would have gone a long way, manchego churros were yummy, croquettas were alright since the croquetta was only half...full, the pulpo was very tender, almost too tender but good...a tad disappointed with the chorizo platter, I was expecting to taste chorizo instead I believe all sausages were Portuguese, all tasted the same and the Paella was not properly cooked..rice was under-cooked, meaning rice al dente, hard and too much liquid not sure if there was azafran since there was no flavor of it Fail. I've never had a more disappointing meal. We convinced our neighbours to also order Barsa for Valentine's Day so that we could have just one person pick up as we live in the opposite corner of the city. We highly recommended the seafood paella as...we had it just weeks ago. It was beautiful. They have changed the dish completely. I tried calling immediately to ask what on earth we received and no one answered. I looked up photos of the dish online and they all looked like what we had before spanish rice with mussels, shrimp and scallops. We all ordered the same thing at our reccomendation and the dish was completely black. No mentioned of a changed recipe on their website. It was disgusting...
We were a group of and we all decided to do the tasting menu, which was pp. You’d think they would bring out enough food for but that was not the case. They didn’t even bring out enough bread for each person....When we asked the waitress for more bread, she made up some unacceptable excuse about how they cut the bread in half and we’re an odd number. Also they lied to us saying that they will customize the menu to each person’s dietary restrictions because the people who requested specific things (like no pork) missed out on certain courses without any alternative accommodations. Cozy tapas restaurant just West of the St. Lawrence Market. Friendly, attentive service, and very knowledgeable bartender. Check out the long list of Gin Tonic options! Happy Hour prices for house wines and beer until pm. Sangria both red or white are...delicious and not overly sweet. All shared dishes love the Jamon Iberico! Order dishes to start with, then add other items based on room in your tummy. A great location to catch up with friends and hang out for the evening. Live entertainment (guitarist) on Thursday evenings! Nice, cosy patio to sit outside on a sunny day in the summer Fall.
Spent a very enjoyable evening in this eclectic Spanish restaurant. Despite some reviews, I would not call this a tapas restaurant dishes were much larger than a traditional tapas so be aware when ordering : The food was excellent, as was the wine.. and service was friendly and professional. If you are looking for a relaxed, special evening meal out in Toronto then go to Barsa! Oh, and the flamenco guitarist was outstanding
The website advertised a flamenco show, in fact they had a live guitarist for about an hour, but no dancers. The food was bad, cold, badly seasoned, the meat was dry and stringy, and for the cheese “platter” one needs to bring tweezers from home...to handle the delicate foils of cheese. They give a really bad name to the Spanish cuisine.
We went for a family celebration, and had the tasting menu. The bill was pretty high, but we ate some lovely dishes and had some good wine. The server was excellent, they were very careful about my sons crustacean allergy and the food is tasty...and creative. Really enjoyed our meal.

This is a small eclectic restaurant on Market Street west of the St. Lawrence Market building. My wife had Patatas Bravas with a fried egg and I had the more conventional Grilled Cheese Sandwich). Both were reasonably priced. We sat outside overlooking the Market building.
We celebrated a birthday and the management and staff were very accommodating and helped us greatly. We loved the food and especially the sangria. Love the patio!
