Don't bother looking anywhere else on Trip Advisor, many of the Cairns top rated F&B establishments are up there for different reasons. You'll waste your time looking around and end up going somewhere far inferior to Bayleaf Balinese. If you do end up looking around, open a new tab because you'll end up wanting to come back...N.B: I wasn't paid for this review...Georgia, our server for the evening was a delight to have around. Booked a table. It was Saturday night so quite busy. Service was not good. We had the mixed satay sticks and beef rendang with a couple of other dishes. The quality of the beef is woeful, tough as nails and gristly. We haven't been here for a couple of years and won't be back in a hurry. Staff seemed to lack interest and we had to wait quite some time before our table was cleared so we could order dessert. The only thing going for this restaurant is that it's reasonably priced and if you don't order beef or pork you might enjoy your meal. Shame it's deteriorated so much.
We would certainly go back to Bayleaf Restaurant, the food was absolutely beautiful. We rocked up late without a booking but they managed to fit us in for dinner. Entree was served quickly but it was a very long wait for mains where we left on our own without drink top ups. When the mains finally arrived it was well worth the wait but we did leave feeling like our waitress was understaffed and ran off her feet. Overall it was excellent, a little pricey but worth the money and the wait! Definitely give it a go.
We entered after a long walk on the esplanade, very hungry and thirsty... We realized there that we do not know anything about balinese kitchen... So we have chosen by chance,,, :) The food was very good, but I do not recommend it for those, who do not like spicy food, or have stomach problems. All food was very spicy. The staff was very helpful, the place has a special charm, with balinese sculpture, and intimate evening light... I liked it.

The food was delicious and fairly priced for the area. The staff whilst friendly were really not attentive enough until the end of the meal when it got quieter in the restaurant. I couldn't work out if they needed more staff or needed a more efficient approach to the front of house. Anyway, this is a definite place to eat whilst in cairns, just don't go if in a rush.
Do yourself a favour. Don't miss this restaurant if you're in this area. Some of the best Balinese food you ever find. Great atmosphere too. I had chicken curry and my wife had naasi-goran. Both were yummy and presented very well. Yes some mind blowing food. They have that authentic Balinese taste you get in Bali. Thank you for the great evening.
As I regularly travel to Cairns, I have been to a lot of the local restaurants, none of them are as good as here. Do yourself a favour and just come here. Fantastic food at a good price, the service is often slow due to how busy it gets, however don't let this out you off. If you want the best place to eat in Cairns. Book now.
We walked in without a reservation, and even though they were busy, we were seated at a lovely table outside anyway. My husband and I had the ristaffel, which was varied and wonderful. We particularly enjoyed the braised pork. Service was attentive and friendly.

Good Ambience, interesting way of presenting their food, a bit different to some of Indonesia food I have tasted. Took a bit longer to get our main meal but overall tasty food
I wanted more, I really did. A great atmosphere and good service. Just the food was missing the Wow factor. Will try again another time.
