Buahaha Beard Papa's is taking over the world! I remember having their famous cream puffs all the time as a kid in Taiwan and when visiting Japan. Kind of crazy to see them all over the US now. I think the quality kind of went down after going mainstream tbh. Welp...This one's in Sawtelle. Very deserted... (dessert ed? :P) Empty and smells like cleaning fluid and run by a clearly unhappy employee. We tried to order as quickly as possible to gtfo.Even when we visited around 5pm, there were still at least four shell options left original, green tea, strawberry, and cookies cream. The shells are more stiff/crunchy now, but the filling is still as good as I remember. We picked up: COOKIES CREAM...
Jose and the other female employee were very friendly, and the place was exceptionally clean and well-organized. It had a full selection with every flavor available. I’m not sure what the negative reviewers are on about—they're probably just Karens and Chads. I mean, who gets so worked up over cream puffs? And who shows up just 30 minutes before closing and complains about limited options? The answer: Karens and Chads.
I moved away from this neighborhood and hadn't been back in a couple of years. Today I went in and got a chocolate eclair cream puff filled with the flavor of the month: Vietnamese coffee cream. I didn't even make it out of the parking lot! It was so delicious. I also got an iced coffee that was nice and strong. Customer service was great. I highly recommend this place for a small treat or for a big group.
As so many others have said, parking here can be very challenging, so be sure to think on streetside options and park at a meter if need be. The cream puffs are pretty good! Not too sweet, which was what I expected, with lots of tasty cream and some fun and flavorful toppings. I got a few different varieties to try and each had its own appeal. Located in the heart of Sawtelle, Beard Papa's is a great spot for post lunch dessert! The eclairs are fresh and yummy! You get an pastry and a filling option. I got a cream filled chocolate eclair and a strawberry cream filled strawberry glazed eclair. Plain, powdered or green tea are other eclair options with additional filling choices such as chocolate. Clean, good service!
The experience started off poorly with the limited options and unwelcoming staff. To top it all off, they messed up my order. I ended up spending $65 on 19 plain cream puffs with vanilla filling when all I wanted was chocolate. I will never return to this awful location. Beard Papa’s can definitely do better than this! Truly disappointing!
I love Beard Papa's. Today I got the chocolate eclair cream puff with vanilla custard filling. Each puff is around $4, but they are huge and very filling. Staff is very kind. They also sell coffee, tea, and custard shakes which I've yet to try. There is a parking lot. The seating area was blocked off today maybe because of the rain.
Light and creamy I was satisfied with one big cream puff and didn’t feel gross after eating it because it wasn’t super sweet or rich. Staff is professional and you can choose what you want for the puff and what flavor cream. Go get one if you’re in the area. Réservez une table maintenant
