Berggasthaus Ederkanzel

We walked via Leutaschklamm to Ederkanzel. There are signs and even I could do it. Weather was good so we had a great view on the mountains. From the terrace of the restaurant you can enjoy a great view. We had some beers and ate...pancakes, steak and reiberdatschi (pancakes from potatoes). I had a fluffy pancake which I would recommend not just as food but as an experience. A massive meal which encourages climbing the highest mountain immediately. Great stuff. Whilst the adults were chatting the kids played freely. There is a swing etc.

We walked up Austrian route from the car park start to the Leutascher Geisterklamm after we had walked the gorge. Not to difficult a walk slipping back and forwards over the German/Austrian borders. The Ederkanzel has a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains and...valleys. The drinks were about the norm and the home made cakes were fantastic. We then walked down the supply road to Lautersee lake to finish the day. Great days walking.

The terrace is in Austria , The indoor resto is in Germany . The border is marked by the stone marker see photo Great View , good Bavarian Austrian cuisine , friendly service . You can even have home grown turkey...and chicken in the late fall or Christmas time .

Our teenagers and us year old parents hiked up from Mittenwald. We arrived to glorious views and great radlers and Bavarian food. Memories for a lifetime. And the hike wasn't all that bad if you are in decent shape.

Just over half an hour signposted walk from Mittenwald, this pretty hut is a real find. Fantastic views, very good food, excellent beer and a pleasant atmosphere what more is there to say?!
