Whether in Winter or Summer time, at peak season, mountain large self service restaurants are not famous for good food at reasonable prices. But in recent years some of them have made efforts to improve quality and not only milk tourists that have no other choice. This place, that beneficiates from a great view not only over the magnificent Aletsch Glacier but also over the Southern Part of the Swiss Alps seems to be such case. The lunch menu, main dish and dessert, we select after our 4 hours trek, at below CHF 20.- if memory serves well, was indeed quite good. Not a sophisticated dish but well prepared and served in a large portion of meat, vegetables and noodles. Balanced and appreciated...
We purchased an one day package deal ("herbstsonne") for the cable cars and lifts to explore the mountains and the views across the Aletsch glacier. At Bettmerhorn we ate lunch deals included in the package. An excellent sausage and potato dish was offered for the carnivore and the vegetarian was served "cholera" which is a tasty cheese and potato pie with salad. There were simple desserts too. Not surprisingly the meal was overshadowed by the view. The sun was shining and the entire Alpine range from Mont Blanc via the Matterhorn to the Monte Rosa and beyond was clearly visible. Service at the cafeteria was fine. Recommended!
Since I have a cousin who works at Bettmeralp I got VIP treatment! The restaurant 's food is quite tasty, very fresh and generous portions. It's self serve, but the entrees are made on the spot when ordered. Also, everything is extremely clean. When choosing a table, you can see the Matterhorn on a clear day or view the Aletsch Glacier (the longest in Europe) on the other side. Beautiful views! You can also pick up some postcards and knick-knacks here. Very friendly people. The cable car rides to get to the top are fun and scenery beautiful. Thumbs up!!
In a superb location, with views over Europe's biggest glacier, and all round views of the Alps, to Mont Blanc, the Matterhor, and Northwards to the Bernese Oberland.This is a self service restaurant offerinb typical mountain fare, from salads and cold "assietts", to pasta, meat or chicken. I took the opportunity to try the local Goms valley speciality, Cholera, a pie of potato, apples, onions and cheese (although recipes do vary, with some including ham). This was excellent.

After walking around on the Bettmerhorn, looking with astonishment to the quiet Aletschgletscher (the longest glacier in the Alps) and the visit of the museum we had a drink, some dry meat and cheese in this self service restaurant. Food and drinks were nice and the staff friendly and helpful. The view around the mountain panorama with all this over 4'000 m tops is great. Cows, sheep, marmots are around as well as the curious mountain jackdaws.
Fantastic location overlooking the whole mountain range with Matterhorn in the fond. Good service and much improved restaurant after renovation. Only disturbing view is the garbage waggons standing in the aisle all the time - pls take them away!
Lovely view from this restaurant. Nice stop for lunch when you ski here. Prices not too high. Also good stop for not skiers to go on to view point and enjoy views of biggest glacier in Alps
The weather wasn't super, but the Schnitzel Pommes Frites was cooked fresh and better then most restaurants in towns! The view is awesome!

Amazing view over the 'Wallis' and the 'Glacier'. Try to order local food such as Raclette and the local beer (Vallaisaine). Amazing
Try the homemade "Alt Wiener Apfelstrudel". Absolutely delicious, rarely had such a good Apfelstrudel dessert !
