I've been a fan of this ice cream shop for years, and the ice cream is still fantastic. However, this past summer, I've noticed they frequently run out of the classic flavors, opting instead for “specialty flavors." I’m not sure what prompted this shift, as many of the specialty options often remain untouched while the popular flavors are missing. I appreciate the creativity behind the new flavors, but it’s important to keep the favorites available at all times. In fact, about 50-75% of the time we visit, we find there’s no flavor we’re interested in. This change is quite disappointing. This restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the staff are incredibly friendly. We had checked their closing time online and noted that it was 8:30 PM, but upon arrival, we saw a sign stating they close at 8 PM. Despite this mix-up, the staff were not particularly attentive and did not come to offer assistance. My only suggestion would be for them to update their online hours. Nevertheless, the food was outstanding, and I would highly recommend this restaurant.
The best ice cream in the state! The delicious cream is truly phenomenal! The service is outstanding. Harry and his team really know what they’re doing! The long lines every day are evidence of my claims. The staff does an excellent job of getting people in and out quickly. If you haven't experienced The Big Dipper yet, it's a must-visit! It's the best ice cream shop in the state!
My husband and I were in search of some ice and were pleasantly surprised to find this hidden gem right in our neighborhood. The restaurant has a cozy ambiance that reminds me of the Sugar Bowl from the PBS show "Arthur." Even though it specializes in ice, the desserts aren't overly sweet. I tried the roasted almond flavor, and it was both delicious and delightful.

You won’t regret a waffle cone. They are homemade. I always pop in when I’m in town. Random Wednesday was pretty busy and Lana was great! She was the only one at the counter and couldn’t of been more pleasant and efficient.
I hadn't visited in about 15 years, but it remains the best ice cream in Connecticut! Now that I live in Denver, I can't indulge in this incredible ice cream as often as I'd like. I always highly recommend Big Dipper!
This ice cream shop is exceptional. The ice cream is made from scratch and tastes truly amazing. They have a wonderful selection of flavors, and the staff is exceptionally friendly.

Neis is wonderful, but I suggest they consider adjusting their hours to prevent customers from arriving when the restaurant is closed.
