Came here recently (June) for the first time. I'm not Indian nor Pakistani but am no stranger to this block or Indian food. I worked corporate for many years two blocks away on JFK Blvd and in Manhattan by Lexington and the 30's. I eat Indian often and not just what's popular with the masses of non Indians. However, this time, did order a popular dish Chicken Tikka (not Masala) with cabbage and Onion Naan.The Good: (a) chicken portions were very generous with large chunks of boneless meat, a good lemon wedge (b) this may have been the most tender, most buttery textured chicken I've ever had (c) the onion Naan was steaming hot, flavorful and falling apart with little effort as it should be. First impression first, used restroom, and it was dirty and shockingly there was no handsome or handwash. Informed the management about it, but they ignored it. I was skeptical about eating there. Imagined if employees never washed their hands and served food. Anyway, I was hungry as it was night and dinner time. My folks ordered food, and we ate after using hand sanitizer. Ordered spl chicken biryani, paneer biryani, and cut mirchi bajji. They were ok. Rice and chicken cooked separately and mixed, which felt clearly as rice had no flavor being basmati and chicken was tasty. Worst Service.I visited store to order food. Guy at the front desk was good and answered all the questions about the items available and helped with suggestions. I ordered Briyani and Appetizer and waited for 20 mins walking around. When I came back to pickup my food owner was at the counter. I asked for the receipt for my purchase. He was checking the trash can for the receipts instead of printing the new one. From there he handed me receipt from trash can of someone else.This is the worst behavior being a owner. Biryani that I bought home was of worst taste. I would never come there again to get food. I would not suggest anyone too.
I had one of the worst experiences at this restaurant. They seated us for dining after midnight and took our order, but it took nearly 45 minutes for them to bring out the rotis. When I inquired about the delay, they casually mentioned that they only had one cook on duty after midnight and offered to cancel our order if we preferred. The service was extremely irresponsible, and their responses were unsatisfactory. Additionally, the restaurant was uncomfortably hot and stuffy. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.

PLEASE BRING THE OLD CHEF/RECIPE BACK. Biryani Pot has been my go to place to order biryani in Jersey City. For the 3rd time in a row their biryani has has a lot of gravy; less rice compared to the right balance of gravy rice. Also the spice level has gone SIGNIFICANTLY UP and the taste levels have GONE DOWN. Even after instructing them to make it less spicy; they've been ruining the biryani and I now need to find another good place for Biryani. Thank you for serving for the past 6 years. Time to move on!
I do not know where to start but we were eating and they took trash out right infront of us and it was smelling and the guy start spraying air freshener... knowing we weren't happy about it they didn't even care to apologize... i have heard that indian people aren't clean and never believed the stero type mentality but now may be its true what others say ....very very disrespectful to the customers, thier culture over all as human kind.
I really enjoy their Biriyani. I have a small suggestion: it would be fantastic if they could include a whole egg with the Biriyani and offer the option to add extra eggs for an additional charge. Additionally, it would be great if they could clean the storefront, as it currently feels quite dirty and has an unpleasant smell, which reminds me of my home country.

There were many restaurants in jersey city indian street but most of them are falling apart in keeping up with the tastes.Biryani pot was one restaurants which is still standing out and tastes amazing for biryanis.Try it out. I got the vegetable biryani picked up but they missed giving raitha and salan which is very disappointing and hence 1 less.
